Took a nice 1 hour walk from our hotel in Tromso downtown and across the Bruvegen bridge to the base station. Cable car up to the Storsteinen station is scheduled every half an hour, and the view on top was amazing. Snow were quite thick and wind was strong so we decided not to walk further up to the peak.... More

A great view of tromso went up when there was no clouds in the sky and really enjoyed it , tried to go the night before but wind had closed it. Was a few people looking at the northern lights and they appeared there so great place to try and see them without paying for a trip.

Worth braving the cold for stunning views. Stay past sunset to see the lights come on in far below Tromso. You can bring a picnic and sit in the heated area in front of the cafe joining in playing games left available there for everybody to use. A quaint touch! Hiking up higher for the fit only!

We took the cable car at 6:30 PM it runs every half an hour and was a great experience. At this time of night the sun was just setting so we got a daytime and nighttime view. The hot chocolate at the top was the best I have had for a long time! There were lots of tables reserved for... More

In cold and snowy Tromso, we walked across the bridge from the city centre to the Cable car station, and rode the cable car up, hoping for a good view. Boy we weren't disappointed. The view of Tromso island and the mountains, fjords and straits on the horizon was amazing. It's not cheap getting the cable car up there, but... More

We walked from Tromso to Fjellheisen cablecar. It was a long 2km over the bridge but was doable - even in the middle of winter with limited daylight! The trip up and down the mountain was expensive (as are most things in Norway) and quick. At the top the restaurant was full and there was no seating so we headed... More

During a 5 day trip in Tromso, the weather was constantly snowing and there was lots of low cloud. During the first few days, we walked over to the Fjellheisen cable car office a couple of times, but due to the weather, decided to not take the cable cars and hold off the see if the weather was any better... We rode on this cable car to the heights. It is well worth the money. We were rewarded with a spectacular view across the town, Tromso Island, the connecting bridges and surrounding land and waterways. Excellent. The café serves hot food and drinks. We recommend the waffles with jams and the brown cheese!!

It's a great spot for a walk on a clear day. The view is breathtaking and you can explore the peak with snowshoes on. But it's very windy and I guess it at least 10 degrees colder than the ground on the day we went. So, warm clothes and waterproof footwear are a must.

We went up on the cable car at night to see the city lights and were not disappointed. The view was beautiful. The cable cars have recently been replaced with large new cars, so the ride was smooth. At the top there is a restaurant where I had a waffle with jam. Unpon returning, the staff was kind v enough... More
