- SiTrHohenems, Austria1,095 contributionsCool experience but overpricedWe went to the magic ice bar quite spontaneously without knowing exactly what to expect. The ice bar is beautifully designed overall, but the entrance fee with the "free drinks" is unfortunately overpriced. It's difficult to give a clear recommendation.Visited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 1, 2024
- TravelingBillGlendale, Arizona660 contributionsFun hourThis was fun. Friendly staff, lots of ice sculptures and ice wall art Big selection of drinks available. Put their parka over top our own winter coat and kept warm. Feet can get cold.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 6, 2024
- Tony and Joy WBridgwater, United Kingdom1,199 contributionsA Great Experience & Friendly Staff! The staff at the Magic Ice Bar were extremely friendly and helpful. They explained everything to us before we decided whether to go in or not. They had two entry tickets, the first came with a free drink (a berry and wine I think or a non-alcoholic) and the second which was only 50 NOK more, allowed you to choose a second drink of anything you wanted. I had a very nice beer! We kept our own coats on and they put their own Parker- type cloak on top to keep us warm! Gloves are also available but we had our own. Although it's not huge inside we were really pleased that we went in as it was a great fun experience. Inside there are plenty of ice tables and chairs and the first drink was served in an ice glass. Plenty of ice sculptures to look at and the main bar is made of ice and very impressive too. You can come out of the bar and warm up in the reception area and then pop back in. Although it was very cold inside we were warm enough apart from our fingers when we took our gloves off to take photos! There were clean toilets and free Wifi. This is something different and if you have never been in an Ice Bar, it's well worth a visit.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 21, 2024
- lithlith931 contributionsMagic Ice Bar TromsøWe knew this was a touristy experience going into it. Basically they give you a poncho like coat and a pair of gloves and then open the door to essentially a large walkin freezer. There are all sorts of ice sculptures and you will have the opportunity to take all sorts of fun photos! We purchased tickets online, which was slightly discounted from buying in person. We went for the two drink option as it was a better value. When we arrived there were only two other couples, and when we left, it was just us. It's a weird bar experience to have so few people there, however, it was perfect for being able to take all of the fun photos we wanted all over the place.Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 24, 2024
- MartaBarcelona, Spain92 contributionsFun and differentCurious experience in the city center. The entrance fee includes a visit to the ice gallery, the poncho coat, the gloves and a drink (it does not have to be alcoholic). Highly recommended to see the ice statues and have a nice time.Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 19, 2024
- JemkhMelbourne, Australia768 contributionsGo with friends if you have no budgetTromso is already expensive and Magic Ice Bar just reminds you of this. Definitely not a singles activity; and on the day I did bring a friend. It's a fun and different environment but short lived. With entry, you are given one free cocktail (which isn't mind blowing) and a warm poncho to wear. It's a short term fun experience but not one I feel like I ever need to do again.Visited January 2024Traveled soloWritten September 27, 2024
- Imelda MSan Francisco, California18 contributionsFun and Cool experienceIt was a pretty cool experience, pun totally intended! TIP: Dress like you’re going into a giant freezer… because that’s what it is. They’ll give you a big blanket type heavy poncho with a hood but you’ll be much more comfortable if you dress in layers and have a heavy hat and thick gloves on besides that. The ice art inside is truly worth seeing and considering the cost of running that kind of business, the two drink + entry fee isn’t too bad. My friends and I lasted about 45 mins in there before we decided to go but we had a great time and took some fun pics. Also: Cheaper than going to the one in Las Vegas… just saying.Visited October 2024Traveled with friendsWritten October 26, 2024
- Jules B60 contributionsPricey gimmick, but enjoyed it.It was an experience. I don't need to do it again. It was a largish room with 6 seating areas made of ice... a few ice sculptures and very little else. Great for a few pics. It was 890 NOK (£62) and we all got a drink. 2 alcoholic ones for myself and hubby, and the 2 children got non alcoholic cocktails. We stayed for 25 mins, so it's a pricey activity for what it is. However, its a Great gimmick and one to tick off the bucket list.Visited December 2024Traveled with familyWritten December 29, 2024

An interesting place but not sure it was worth the 300 NOK entrance fee (although this did include a complimentary drink in a glass of ice!)
You are given a warm cape which you do need. There are some nice ice sculptures, but I'm not convinced it is the sort of place you would stay for a second drink.

I was hesitant to go to the Ice Bar because I knew it to be a bit of a tourist trap, and it some ways it is, but overall I was glad I went. It’s a fairly small space but well appointed with ice sculptures and has many side rooms with additional sculptures. I opted for the two drink package the cost 350 NOK and received two nice drinks with Buffalo Trace Bourbon. So really, the entry price is not that much for the experience. Great place to go with a spouse or a group because you only stay for two drinks and then you’re out. This is not a place to hunker down and lit up. I give it a thumbs up because it’s a cool memory.

An interesting place, this small bar is really filled with solid blocks of ice and ice sculptures. It’s kept at a very low temperature so they kit you out with insulating ponchos and gloves, and limit your time to 45 mins. The bar serves a variety of drinks and cocktails in ice glasses (no need for ice in the actual drink!).
It’s expensive and gimmicky but worth a visit as it’s in keeping with local climate.

This is basically an expensive drink in a big fridge. There's not much to look at and the carvings are pretty lame. The theme of the ice 'art' is supposed to be arctic exploration or something like that, so I'm not sure how etchings of bare-breasted mermaids fits in to that.
Honestly, just go to a normal bar and chill out there with maybe two or three drinks for the same price.

Our tip is to book in advance, we got a free drink token on top of the free introduction drink that everybody gets.
This is a fun experience which we enjoyed despite not really being drinkers. The ice bar has lots of sculptures dotted around the seating area, with music playing, and lights changing every couple of minutes. We read about the sculptures and some Norwegian history too and had a fabulous time. Don't worry about the cold, you get a very warm poncho and gloves to keep you warm. Would recommend.

Magic Ice was really nice to visit. We enjoyed looking at the different ice sculptures and pictures. We did the “bring on the cold” package and had two free drinks to enjoy which used our 45 minutes, though we were very cold and left a few minutes early!
So nice that they give a poncho and gloves if you need it.

Not too many bars like this one! Fun experience, take some good photos inside, have a couple drinks and admire some ice sculptures. So, a few things to know before you go. They provide overcoats and gloves if visiting in summer so take them, but even still, you won’t want to linger here for the whole evening, it gets chilly! Probably half an hour and you are done. One of our group said the visit was slightly cheaper if you purchase you ticket online in advance, so you might as well. They have a few drink packages you can buy, the one that gets you two drinks instead of just one is much better value for a second drink. (Which you might find you want anyway.) The drinking glasses are all made of ice too, so the drinks were very cold and I really enjoyed my favourite single malt in a tiny ice shot which I then chewed up and ate.

We visited one afternoon in March 22. It was quiet, with only a handful of customers. It was expensive (everything is in Norway, especially alcohol) I can't remember how much, but it was, for us, a unique opportunity to experience an ice bar and it was enjoyable. I think it was -5 inside but we were well wrapped up as it was cold and snowing outside and we didn't need to accept the offer of additional clothes. Our deal included 2 drinks each, the first a wine based fruity drink and the second anything from the cocktail list.
The bar, tables and benches were made of ice and there were some ice sculptures. It was a fun experience and I'm glad we did it but it was one of those things you probably don't need to do more than once.

We paid 225Kr each for this, that’s about £18. We stayed about ten minutes. It was pathetic. It was small with basically one room with alcoves. The sculptures were poor. We also noticed discounts being given, we paid online in advance. I can honestly say it was the most disappointing experience of our holiday in Norway. I would not recommend this too anyone.

This is terrible! Ice sculptures are underwhelming, there is no atmosphere, and it certainly isn’t an exhibition. Welcome drink was an awful concoction of white wine and local berries - undrinkable. Entry fee was a rip-off. Avoid.
