travelling over the bridge is an experience! felt like a rollercoaster ride. the bridge is quite tall to ensure passage of cruide ships under it. excellent views of the bridge from tromso waterfront.

We walked across the bridge on a late night after taking the cable car to the top of Storsteinen mountain to see Aurora Boralis (we were not lucky this night...). Since we stayed until closing and just missed the bus we decided to walk to town instead of waiting. On route we were able to see the Arctic Cathedral at night and it was lovely lit. The back stained glass windows make a beautiful picture too!
The walk itself was surprisingly not as chilly or windy as we though it would be and it took us only 15 min to walk across.
Taking pictures from the bridge is a bit tricky due to the high guard rails.
Very safe walk even at midnight (as everywhere else in Tromso).

An amazing looking bridge linking Tromso with Tromsdalen. We caught the bus across it to visit the Arctic Cathedral and decided to walk back. It was snowing but the views of Tromso were very good and it didn't take as long to walk as we thought it would! There are railings on both sides of the path, making it very safe though not so good for taking photos!

We walked across this bridge in the day time. it takes about 20 minutes and is very worthwhile. Great views acroos the river and harbour. The Arctiv Catherdral is also worth a visit and is only a minute or two from the bridge.

Tromso sits on an island between two other islands and is linked to both by elegant, arched bridges which rise to a peak in the centre. Tromso Bridge links downtown Tromso to Tromsdalen with its stunning Arctic Cathedral. The bridge looks intimidating but walking across it takes around 15 minutes or so - enjoy the downhill part after you've climbed to its peak. The views across Tromso Sound and harbour are also terrific, but it's tricky to take decent photos because of the metal fencing. The walk is certainly bracing - dress for the cold as you'll get the full force of the Arctic wind in your face!

I have never rated a bridge as an attraction before. This bridge is easy to walk across. It has walking lanes on each side completely separated from the cars, with a good safety fence on the outside. It gets a bit slick in the snow.

I ran across this bridge recently during my trip to Tromsø. I like the fact that this bridge has a walking pedestrian on one side and a bicycle path on the other side. So when running I don't have to worry that there's bike behind or in front of me.

We walked across this bridge well over a dozen times whilst in Tromso, the walk looks longer than it is and it’s a pleasant walk.
One side is for bridge is for cyclists and one side for pedestrians. (facing the artic cathedral the pedestrian side is on the right).
At the top it gets very windy so make sure you have a hat as our ears and face got very cold!
Also it’s sad to see people putting locks on the bridge, it damages the integrity of the bridge and will become like other European bridges where they have to remove them.

We could see the bridge from our hotel. Took the bus over the bridge to the Artic Cathedral and then walked back over the bridge back to the center. Beautiful view of the city from the bridge especially at night.

To get to,the Cathedral I walked over the bridge. It starts out ok from the town side and the you get higher up you have to watch how you walk. But. a lovely view from the highest point. Also fun to do if you time it right that the Hurtigruten is going under te bridge

Written August 14, 2024
how far is the bridge and Artic Catheral from the Viking ship terminal ?
Written January 14, 2019
Hi.
From the ship terminal the bridge is a 20 Minute walk or 8 minutes by car.
The Arctic cathedral is across the bridge (there is a path over the bridge you can walk) walk will take you 5 mins from start of bridge to cathedral.
Also the cable car is another 15 minute walk from the cathedral (or 4 min by car)
The cable car is fantastic. Views over Tromso and areas are stunning.
Hope you enjoy ...we did. So much so we are going back in 6 weeks 😀
