We did a fjord day cruise, this was our second in Norway and Flam was better if you want to see the typical U shaped fjords. Both on electric/ hybrid boats which was great as no engine noise. If you are only visiting Tromsø worth it but if going elsewhere pay for a different one as in Norway all very pricey to take these trips.

In the boat we were like sardines in their box and outside there was not too much space either. We only saw 2 eagles and a few seagulls waiting to be fed and we caught 2 cods with fishing rods. The weather was too cloudy and cold to enjoy this trip. Otherwise the organizers were friendly and we had a kitchen area available with hot drinks and snacks. A very good fish soup was also offered. In summary, choose good weather to do this trip !

We sailed from the harbour in Tromso out to Ramfjorden. Polar Explorer our tour company. Truly stunning scenery excellent crew looked after us really well. Amazing Fish Eagle swooping down right in front of us several times. Another wonderful Tromso experience.

Amazing scenery all around, we did the area as a self-drive in winter. Roads are kept open very well, but be aware that they are kept with a packed layer of snow, so you need 4x4 and winter tyres with studs (most rental cars in winter will have this). We stayed in a few AirBnB places around the Fjords and drove ourselves around to see the northern lights etc.

Thank you to Marius and Alex for a great day trip to the fjord region to the west of Tromso. We went to Håkøya first but missed seeing moose unfortunately then on to Kaldfjord then the very pretty Ersfjord then to Tromvik. Extremely scenic all day and saw 2 reindeer but beautiful hot meal by open fire sitting on reindeer skins so quite snug. This is a half day trip but worth it if you have time and it’s always back in time fir evening northern lights chases

The crew was very helpful and tour was enjoyable though we couldn't see any whales. We saw eagles and many other wildlife. You should definitely bring some protective clothing against the cold. I would recommend to anyone to enjoy nature and sea.

It really is the Capital of the Northern Lights
I had the opportunity to see it 3 days in a row from the port pier!!
The secret is to go in winter, even between the end of February and March 8th.

We had a good tour guide. His name
Is Harry. Harry is very knowledgeable and explained very detailed about the aurora lights. I’ve learned a lot. The experience with the lights is awesome and we had good time and enjoyed the hot chocolate at the camp fire. Highly recommended as he captured very nice picture. We were very lucky to see the aurora even it was a cloudy night.

We were in a cruise and only there for a day. I wish we could have seen the fjords by day. A very quaint town we walked and shopped. We also did a touristy bus trip that gave us a taste of the town. It was dark by 2:30 yikes

You have an excellent view of the sunds around Tromsoe on top of the Fjellheisen. Also walk arount to see even more breathtaking views. In addition talk a walk to the south end of Tromsoeya island.

Can anyone recommend a Tromso fjord tour either by boat or by minibus? There are quite a few different ones and I’m not sure which one to choose.
We are a young couple that wants to experience the beauty and calm tranquility of the fjords (and take lots of photos)!

Hi, We will arrive at Tromso Airport on 2 Feb (Sat late afternoon.) We wonder if there is any transport from the airport to Yggdrasiltunet Leirstrandveien 1557 9106 Bakkejord. We wonder if there is any public transport go there in weekends. If not, any shuttle or taxi? I would like to know the price ? Do I need to book it in advance? I feel very frustrated. Please help!

Ciao,Andro' a Tromso a fine gennaio per la caccia all' aurora boreale , mi potete dare qualche informazione per l'abbigliamento da usare per le uscite? Mi potete anche consigliare luoghi abbastanza vicini visto che non abbiamo auto dove poter vedere aurora in autonomia,ultima cosa leggendo varie recensioni non mi e'chiaro come si presenta l' aurora alla vista , o meglio anche senza obiettivo ha il caratteristico colore verde...?

Buonasera Franca noi abbiamo usato abbigliamento da neve con tute giacche cappelli e dopo sci anche perchè di notte fa molto freddo. Per vedere l'aurora boreale ti consiglio di affidarti a guide locali noi siamo stati con Nothern shots tours di Tromso che potrai trovare facilmente sul web sono affidabili e italiani perchè parlare di luoghi non è facile dato che si tratta di una vera e propria " caccia " a l'aurora boreale con spostamenti repentini in base ai miglioramenti e alla visibilità del cielo, naturalmente il tutto in bus . Puoi nel frattempo per farti un'idea consultare il sito aurora Forecast. o aurora oval. A occhio nudo certe volte non si vede il classico colore verde che un'obbiettivo può tranquillamente immortalare.

If you are able to drive yourself, hire a car. It gives you lot of freedom and the roads are very well maintained. Have a great holiday !

Which company did you use for your sailboat tour of the Tromso fjords? I am going to be in Trimsø at the end of Jan. and am an avid sailor who would love the chance to sail up there..

Hi, We did Tromso last February, but we did it as part of a cruise on P&O Oriana. Tromso is a very nice town, the local people are very friendly and helpful. There were local boats in the harbour that did tours of the area. I'm sure if you ask at the local tourist information ctr they will point you in the right direction. Hope you get to see the Northern Lights. They are such a sight to see.
