Go here for fantastic views and lovely scenery. Not much around but the bridge, atmosphere and a couple of cafes but wow, worth the visit and time. Would recommend to anyone who travels here. The current is sooooo fast.

If you love a good maelstroms, then Saltstraumen Is the place to take a tour to. Saltstraumen has the world strongest maelstroms and watching it as it goes inn and out the fjords it's quite spectacular. And it's great place to fish as well.

Saltstraumen is impressive to be sure. Be sure to check when it’s at its strongest (depending on the tide), and bring a rod if you like to fish. You can go down below the bridge on either side, and crossing it gives good views, especially...More

The current wasn’t very strong when I stopped by. Anyway, it’s a nice place with plenty of parking lots, green lawns, restroom facilites.

The Tide rushes through the narrows 4 times a day as the tide flows in and out of the Fjord. However if you miss that window of opportunity to see the tidal rush, then its really a bit of a non-event. There is an information...More

This is an interesting place to visit. It doesn’t look very interesting in the first place, but once you know how much water is pressed through this narrow strait and once you see the water movement on the surface, you’ll be impressed. Saltstraumen is also...More

The tide was out, so this may have been more impressive at a different time of day. As it was, the information that we were given was interesting but we didn’t see any impressive whirlpools. If you have the ability, you would want to plan...More
