There isn't a lot to do in Hammerfest when you are on a day trip, most of us from the ship decided to walk up to the Church as it's a prominent feature of the town. Good view of the harbour from here.

This church was only built in 1960s as the town was destroyed by the Germans in late 1944, early 1945.

We attended a midnight concert at the beautiful Hammerfest Church. It was quite magnificent. The singers were marvellous and the high ceilings of the church were marvellous for the acoustics. We travelled on the Hurtigruten's MS Polarlys and transferred from the ferry to the church...More

Beautiful church that has some great glass. Even the walls make use of stained glass and the organ loft is very pretty as well. No charge to enter and photography is allowed

We had been to Hammerfest several years ago and remember this very beautiful church. Particularly we remembered a church official who was incredibly humble and had some wonderful things to say about the British. The church has some splendid stained glass which was well worth...More

Top of town but not obvious until close by. Very modern like so many churches in the Arctic. Good guides to explain. We just missed a short concert.

Beautiful building and visible from all over the town and bay. Ultramodern and in keeping with your I age of Norway.

Certainly visit this church if you re in Hammerfest. It is a striking building which standards out in the town. Its angular architecture is very interesting. Internally it has some features which add to its appeal.

We walked to the church from the tourist information office as they were promoting a concert for passengers from our cruise ship. Unfortunately after waiting 15 minutes the concert did not happen. The church itself is nice, but more impressive on the outside and easy...More

Not far at all. The church is up a short incline to the right of where Hurtigruten docks. It probably takes 5 to 10 minutes to walk there depending on your walking speed. As you come off the ship, tourist information is... More
