Wolfgang, our tour guide was phenomenal and our tour was very enjoyable. Three hrs flew by and seeing Vienna with a small group with someone that was able to provide historic references as we toured the city made tons of difference. Yes, Vienna is beautiful and self guided tours are just fine. However, if you’re able to, please book this tour and ask for Wolfgang. We had an option of booking a cheaper tour with a larger group of people but I am so glad we didn’t. If you think about it, after spending thousands to get here, what’s extra $50 per person to get the experience like this one?

We recently spent four days in Vienna. As it was our first time in this wonderful city we decided to do two small group Insight tours and were very glad we did. The Vienna Introduction tour with Ilse and Schonbrunn tour with Reinhard were excellent. Both guides were extremely knowledgeable and highly professional as well as being good company. We learned so much more than if we had participated in a large group tour or attempted to do it ourselves. We highly recommend these tours and Insight, who were extremely helpful when we were planning our itinerary.

Katarina was exceptional. We were late for our tour, but she called and was able to be very flexible and accommodating. The others had cancelled so we had a private tour. Katarina shared many stories and answered the many questions we asked. It was clear she knew the palace and some of the staff personally. The entire time was us. And entertaining.

Wonderful tour. Our guide was so knowledgeable. We were lucky to be the only two on the tour. I would highly recommend that the company modify this visit to include the zoo. On a nice day it wound be fun to spend the entire day at the summer palace. Lots to see and do. I would go again.

We were lucky enough to have Suzanne all to ourselves on a public holiday. She was warm, friendly, extremely knowledgeable and with a sense of humour. We normally feel quite intimidated by guided tours so don't tend to book them. But with only 2 nights in Vienna we needed to make the very best of our time and Suzanne certainly made that happen and made it a great experience. We were able to ask as many questions as we liked and had a real education. In winter wrap up siper warm - it was bone chillingly freezing after 3 hours almost all outside! Saw lots of important buildings and almost everything was outdoor and in quite a small geographical part of the sprawling Vienna. That was fine by us as it allowed us to get a gauge of our near environs. It was lots about the architecture which isn't something we were familiar with but it really enhanced our break Couldn't recommend more highly.

Thanks so much for the lovely review. Sorry for my delay in responding. First we were swamped by the holiday bookings and now, of course, all our wonderful historian guides are hanging on through the pandemic and freeze in travel. But feedback like yours is so encouraging to us--we love opening up our cities to travelers and locals. Suzanne is super. And we hope you'll try other Insight Cities tours in Berlin, Prague, Budapest, Salzburg and Munich as travel recovers. Glad that you enjoyed it!

Our tour guide Katrina was fantastic. She was both energetic and knowledgeable of both history and culture. For 3.5 hours, she kept me and my wife entertained - stopping at all of the different historically significant locations (palaces, cathedrals, museums, etc.) and then explaining the background, history and significant. I had debated other tour companies, but am glad we chose this one. Even though it is more expensive, the small group nature (it was only my wife and I) that made it unique and enjoyable, because we could hear what she was saying, we proceeded at our pace and we could ask questions. We saw other tour groups on our walk (20 - 30 people) and could not imagine being in such a large group. Since we were only in Vienna for two days, this was a great way and efficient way to kick-start our first day as my wife and I felt that we really had a strong understanding of the history and familiarized ourselves with directions in the city after this tour. Katrina left us with suggestions for things to do on our own during our second day, which we did (Schonbrunn Palace, Belvedere, etc.) and they were great suggestions. If you are considering booking this tour and company, we would recommend you do it - you will not regret it!

The gardens are really pretty. 14 euro admission to see the detail of the rooms and artwork inside which I enjoyed. If you have no interest in art, it might not be worth the entry fee. The ballroom is nice to see. You can buy tickets online to avoid the queue. There is a cloakroom to put backpacks into.

We booked a historian guide for our first visit to Schonbrunn palace with Insight
Cities. Meeting spot was excellent. We were lucky to have Ilse as our guide who has lived in Vienna all her life. She took care of our tickets, got our backpack and umbrella checked in and we were off to the gardens. She kept us on schedule without feeling rushed at anytime. Her passion and knowledge of Vienna made the Habsburg Dynasty come to life in this informative three hour tour. She described each Habsburg member to bring them to life. We loved that her personal insights were helpful additions to our tour. She is very knowledgeable about the historical events that occurred and explained them in ways that were easy to follow. We were so blessed to have a personal guide who can immediately answer our questions and add to the details of what we experienced. Ilse made the tour of the Palace 100% enjoyable! Thank you, Ilse!

My wife and I visited Central Europe on vacation this month and had an incredibly great time! We used this company (after extensive research on my wife's part) for our guides in both Prague and Vienna and couldn't be happier. The cheapest option? Nope. The best? Yes! We prefer private guides who will work with our needs, our timelines, our interests, and who are completely flexible. This company is all of that. We travel to seek local culture and history and art and architecture and such. This company is all of that. We spent several days with our guide (not all day, since we enjoy time just exploring on our own, but enough to get us what we couldn't possibly get on our own) and she was fantastic. We felt like we got to know her and her to know us...that really helps with all the rest of the learning and immersion into what this city has to show us. When we go back, we will call upon this company again. When we have friends and colleagues thinking of visiting Vienna, we will send them without hesitation to this company. Thanks much for a great vacation!

My tour guide Suzzanne was amazing. A professor and historian she made Vienna come alive and although booked as a small group tour I lucked out and had my guide all to myself! A great way to see the highlights of the city.
