Christmas theatre in Vienna, suitable for all the family! The theatre is found in the beautiful building of the famous Cafe Prueckl, Stubentor, right in the heart of Vienna's 1st District. Now running in English for the 31st consecutive year of Dickens' Christmas classic, a Viennese staple on the theatre scene.

The area
Neighborhood: Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.

sitting in as bar drinking dark beer and we found ‘A Christmas Carol - Open House, Vienna’ on the internet. Let’s give it a try we agreed.

Well, what a treat. The adjoining restaurant - Kunst im Prückel - was far superior to many similar establishments - and the staff were friendly too.

But the show was simply great - a fine story, reset in 1940s USA - and boy did it work. Six great actors in a cracking wee venue.

We’d go again!

We visited Vienna and had pre-bought tickets to the opera house. We purchased them months in advance, as they sell out fast. There are tours of the opera house available. It's a beautiful landmark and the opera (Aida) was sensational!

A lovely little theatre, booked at the last minute so we’re seated in the back row which still provided a great view! Wonderful take on the story with a very impressive engaging cast!!

The outside of the opera house is so beautiful- ornate and in easy access of the main city . Inside is austere with a magnificent staircase . Seats be careful whilst row 14 has all the legroom you could need it is on the flat so not the best view. So be warned

The opera house is very gran! Is not a large opera house, even with the lower price tickets you can still get a pretty decent view. Definitely worth checking it out! Plus, you are in Vienna, this is a must!

Beautiful Opera House in very convenient location. High standard of opera although would choose Covent Garden ahead of this.
