A great station that is easy to navigate with great facilities. As well as a range of eateries, bars and shops - a key requirement for us was left luggage facilities.
The lockers are great and in 3 different sizes accommodating everything from a holdall to large caees. The payment is a one off so we left our cases all day for €3.50. Prices range from €2.50 - €4.50.
Far better than trailing them around this beautiful city on our last day.
Centrally situated and well connected to other transport links - this is a credit to Vienna.

We used this travel hub on a couple of occasions, by tram, bus, underground and train. We travelled by train to Bratislava, from here. It takes just over an hour, each way, and costs just 16EU return. The station is very clean, puts some of our British stations to shame!!
All transport methods in Vienna are so easy to use, buy your ticket from the machine before travel, and activate once on board. Every time we use the local transport, it was on time.

We used this as our stepping stone to travel international and local via public transports. We arrived in Vienna city by an OBB train from the airport.
Had lunch at the clean foodcourt and then we started walking towards our hotel in Favoriten. Plenty of shops than sometimes we did not realise we were in a train station.
We also took a train from here to Bratislava and back as well as to Salzburg and back to Vienna. Regiojet and other busses to various destinations in Europe are also available here. Very convenient.
Plenty of elevators which is a boon to us who travel with small children.

This new station is by far one on the best we have every used around the world. Only one exception - no foreign exchange facility. Huge variety of stores spread over few levels. The Spar stores were most popular with the most amazing array and choices of products of every kind. Well worth it.

I used this station after arriving from Bratislava and leaving on the overnight for Milan. It's a very modern station with all the modern facilities you'd expect from a major station. They have locker facilities in the station which was really useful because I'd arrived well before my hotel check-in time and after checking out of my hotel and waiting for the train to Milan.
The station as a whole is clearly signposted and there’s several departure boards all over the station, including at the food court.

When we were boarding the train to the airport, suddenly a man pretended to assist us carrying our luggages on the train. He is actually a pickpocket whose role is to divert our attention, while his partner who is standing behind me, took my wallet. The man profile is white, clean shaved, appears to be local. The station has poor security system, no security around, probably no cctv monitors, which imposes risks to tourists. Please be careful.

The station has a good layout, clean and "well equipped" to handle many train travelers. It is a main exit point to other cities in Austria and other European capital cities. You can also get trains from here directly to the Vienna International Airport. There are 4 Levels here including the train platforms at the top level and the Metro - U1 Line (Südtiroler Platz-Hauptbahnhof - which goes directly to Vienna city centre) at the lowest level and in between ... many different shops, supermarket and multi-food(s) galore from European, Asian and Indian .. including Anker, Starbucks and a McDonald's. The information desk is very helpful, the ticketing office gives you a choice of being serve by a German or English speaking staff. The 'Left Luggage' is sufficient but tend to be fully utilized at times and the eating seating arrangement at the second level tend to get overcrowded unless if you don't mind standing and eating for which sufficient 'standing counters' are provided for. In the evenings, the Police are constantly on patrol making the station feels 'safe' .. Loving this station ...

My backpack got stolen just before the train left the station. So please be very careful with your belongings and don’t let these thieves ruin your vacation!!! Always keep an eye out on your bags and luggage.

It is big, but not too bad. You have to pay 50c for toilets and the luggage lockers are in an out of the way place. Tourist information is non existent, although the information desk in the ticket office gave me a great city map and some good advice in English. You can take a numbered ticket and request an English speaker. It is well located with U-bahn and trams meeting the S-bahn and international trains here.

This is a large modern, super clean train station - lots of shops / coffee shops etc to stop off at before getting your train. ( Bobbi brown makeup etc !).
You’ll get food coffee at CoffeeFellows.
Book your tickets online to make things easier & if you’re booking first class your seat numbers will be printed on your tickets.

Is it better to take train of plane from Wien to Insbruck? From the point of view of beautiful road out of windows. Is is possible to enjoy beauty of mountains if I travel by trains?

Is it safe to take the last train form Innsbruck to Vienna? I am traveling with family and the train reaches about 0030. And I have to walk to the apartment, about 500 mts.

Yes! From my experience living there for 2.5 years and spending long nights walking in what some might view as one of the ‘seedier’ districts (which is far from seedy but simply not as lively and elegant), Vienna is extremely safe—you’re unlikely to have any issues. As with any place, you need only use common sense. Frankly, I feel much less secure walking downtown here in my home city in Texas than I did anywhere I visited in Austria.

Bom dia.
Obrigada

Is it possible to get tickets the same day of the trip to Prague? I need 3 for the next tuesday 19, but using the website, the only option that I found is to receive the tickets in one particular address and I will be traveling the next 7 days

Sehr geehrter Herr Marcelo!

Good day, answer please how one can reach Wien Hauptbahnhof from the Vienna airport? Are there any routes without changing?

Is rail travel in Austria "chaotic" due to refugee crisis as reported elsewhere? Travelling from Vienna to Prague in late October and would prefer to go by train.

Rail travel is fine. I went solo (female, middle age), unplanned other than knowing the general schedule.
The refugees (who had means) tried to get tickets to Europe at the train station. All machines did not dispense tickets to Germany (Salzburg in particular). But I bought my tickets on the machine for a train ride to Bratislava 30 minutes later. Slovakia closed its borders.
Try to get your tickets ahead of time (they are cheaper online, but I wasn't sure of my exact travel date).
If you are in a group of 2-4, with luggage, try goopti (Go Opti)....door to door address. We did that from Vienna to Ljubljana, and It cost about the same as train + local taxi.
