We took this train service several times in Austria in October. The trains run on time, are clean and comfortable, but the best part is that you can purchase tickets right from the conductor on board, on almost all the routes. But I’m really writing...More

OBB the major rail network in austria is sometimes old and unsuitable for disabled people plus some of the staff are nrude and unhelpful. Westbahn on the other hand is a superb system and is recommended for any route

I took this train for a return trip between Vienna and Salzburg. The carriages are like double-deck subway cars, but with clean washroom facilities and extra rooms for bikes. The date and time I travelled it was not even half full so it was very...More

Traub travel in Wien is the most economical travel in Austria. Trains are clean and runs on time - most of the train stations need regular cleaning as the platforms are filled with cigarete buds - eventhough, all the train stations are supposed to be...More

If you’re British you’ll step into another world on this double decker train. It accelerates fast, is very smooth, roomy and you don’t get seats without a window outlook (Virgin Pendolino). Book seats in advance on Trainline EU and you’ll probably get them cheaper. They...More

I foolishly believed the advertising on this one - smiling families watching the countryside fly by, while enjoying food and drinks. Reality - overfull train, with no room for our bags. Family of four stuck in a vestibule for entire trip from Vienna to Salzburg....More

The Westbahn train from Vienna to Salzburg is a double decker, so one can sit on the upper deck and enjoy the scenic views of the Austrian countryside on the way. If booked well in advance, it costs almost half of what it would, if...More
