We were looking for something to do to fill our morning before an afternoon flight home and one of us found this butterfly house on the internet. The surroundings themselves are worth visiting as it is right in the middle of tourist country near the library and the Winter Palace, so lots of nice scenery. The Schmetterlinghaus itself is not... We paid 23 euros for a family with 2 kids hoping to enjoy the view of the butterflies. Eventually we spent inside 5 minutes and run outside. The place itself is small, hot and humid. It's very unpleasant to stay inside (although we didn't wear any worm cloths). Inside there are not that many butterflies (comparing to other butterflies places... More

Of course the butterflies were beautiful but the place itself was not very big, can also be a bit crowded.

The garden was beautiful and had hundreds of beautiful butterflies. It was not over crowded and you are able to stay as long as you'd like.

A greenhouse where it's recreated a tropical atmosphere. So, it's hot and very humid. So, if you have problems with these conditions better not go. Otherwise, it's a very pleasant visit, butterflies flying free, tropical flowers blooming.

Please please please don't charge this much money for 5 butterflies. My garden has more butterflies. What a waste of time and money. Plus it was so hot there.

If you are not obsessed you butterflies, it's not worth it. Like any other Vienna museum it has an entry price. This is basically a greenhouse with different types of butterflies flying around. There is a fountain, a bridge in the middle, a stair you can climb. It's quite small and the butterflies are not that many. If you visit... More

A very nice establishment. The Butterflys fly free and can look out for the free flying Butterflys. There are more than 40 different types of Butterflys. One does not only admire the Butterflys but also the plants.

Enjoy of a visit to an old and beautiful greenhouse of butterflies! You get into this garden of tropical climate and start counting and taking pictures of all the butterflies around you =)

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
