About
Unique acoustics in baroque ambience, rousing sounds on period instruments united with the beauty and power of great music. An insider's tip in the city of art and culture, which ensures an exceptional evening to all music lovers and represents one of the highlights during a Vienna visit. The St. Anne Church is a historical proof of the beauty and playfulness of the Baroque. It provides a magnificent and authentic atmosphere and lends the concert a high-quality and refined setting. Thereby, the music achieves exceptional quality that leads the audience to dreamy listening. Our musicians acquired their art skills at some of the best-known music academies in Europe and play in concerts with renowned Viennese orchestras. Do not miss an attendance, because selected works by Mozart, Schubert, Beethoven and other composers who have lived and worked in Vienna are best interpreted in our cycle of concerts. The classical concerts are presented in the form of string quartets and include specific pieces of chamber music - in this context we present on selected days Franz Schubert's greatest work of chamber music "Death and the Maiden" on historical instruments, which we highly recommend.

In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.

What an experience! We sat on the comfortable padded chairs at the front left, practically in the first row.
Fantastic music in all variations and tempos from these 4 highly talented musicians of the Lerchenfeld Quartet.
And as a pensioner you even get almost 20% off the entrance fee.
Probably the best concert we have ever experienced on August 11th.

The play at floor level so basically unless your front row of the chuch you cant see them play. Also there is not any type of sound amplifier so if your in the back you can barely Hear Them. Definitely not worth the money.

I was less then impressed with Teipadvisor.....by the fact that in purchasing my tickets with Tripadvisor, I paid the FULL price.
The Tks were 29 euros. I should have qualified for a seniors discount of 10 euros per person. Unfortunately that option is not available on Tripadvisor web site. The same discount should be available for students.
I’ve been a strong supporter and a client of Tripadvisor for many years and I can’t understand why the seniors or student discount is not available on their website.
This maybe the last time I will purchase performance tickets on Tripadvisor web site.

On Corpus Christy and other religious festivities in Viena, there are incredible concerts with orchestras and chorus in the churches and they are free. Do check the agenda of the city and the churches and take advantage of it.

Tickets are actually pretty affordable, the acoustics and the atmosphere in the St. Anna Church are amazing. All in all it's a goosebumps experience you should not miss. Dress code is somewhat relaxed compared to high-end classical performances (suits and evening dresses certainly not required, though of course welcome).

A marvellous quartet of young musicians. The church is a beautiful setting and the hour went very quickly.... Highly recommended. Stop for an early dinner in one of the restaurants in the street with the entrance of the church.

Given that I'd rather listen to Stairway to Heaven than classical music, I couldn't make myself attend a full blown classical concert. But since we were in Vienna for 5 days I felt that we should at least make an attempt to be cultural. The 70-minute string quartet performance in a beautiful small church filled this need.
We arrived early as I read that the pews are very uncomfortable (they are). But pairs of padded chairs are set up along both sides of the church and we were able to sit in these. The performers were very talented and I enjoyed the performance.
Note that there is a 10 Euro senior discount available. There are no restrooms available in the church and I was directed to the nearby Burger King where pay toilets are available. The charge is 50 cents and exact change is required. You can break a Euro with the cashier if it isn't busy.

A stunning baroque church. We listened to Haydn and Mozart. Music was played on instruments of the baroque era in keeping with the Mozart period. if you are into serious music this is for you. Although we enjoyed the evening the music was not familiar to us at all, especially the Mozart piece.

Outstanding acoustics & a virtuoso performance by lead violin Aliona Kalechyts, fabulously supported by her colleagues. Great value, enthusiastically recommended.

Attend this concert during my visit to Vienna in June 2019 and loved it. The concert and performances were very good and the acoustics of the church was great. Though located besides a fairly busy street, the only sound those 60 mins was the beautiful notes from the Violin. Don’t fret about dress code( I did). Just wear decent shirt/pants/dresses and it should be ok. To top of the beautiful performances, the church which was the venue was great as well. Started dot at 8 and ended at 9 and audience was well behaved as well. No late entrants or whispers. Great value for the price and a must visit!

Has anyone attended the regular string quartet concert at both St Anne's and St Peters (not the Christmas trumpet special which I've heard is bit good). We will be there in January and are deciding which to attend. Thanks

Has anyone done the concert here and the one at St. Peters? Anything to recommend one over the other?
Written December 11, 2019
Would fully recommend St Anne’s. Lovely church saw a quartet of violinists superb. Well worth it. Cannot comment on the other.

I received my tickets at the entrance to the church 30 minutes before the start of the concert. Take with you a printout of the confirmation you received. They
should have your name on their confirmation list.
Enjoy the concert!

What is the age to qualify for senior ticket purchase for these concerts ( it's a 10€ saving!)
Thanks!

Hi, my wife and I are headed to Vienna in about two weeks and want to listen to some classical music. What is the dress code at St. Anne Kirche? I don't want to pack a jacket and tie and dress pants if I don't have to. Is the church less formal than the other venues?
Thanks for any comments you may have.
Written September 21, 2016
No special dress code applies, because the concerts are in the hours after mass
Written September 21, 2016
We will be in Vienna the first week of September. I see where it says formal dress for this concert. I planned on a long sundress with a sweater and sandals. Husband has a sports jacket and slacks. Do we need to "bump it up"for this concert?
Written August 20, 2016
When we went there were people in all kinds of dress including casual. It was definitely not formal dress. What you suggested you'll have to wear will be fine.
