About
The Vienna Mozart Orchestra plays concerts with internationally renowned singers and soloists - all in magnificent historical costumes and wigs and creates a special atmosphere in Vienna's largest and most famous Concert halls, like State Opera and Musikverein. In the style of 'musical academies', as in Vienna concerts were known in Mozart's time, the audience enjoy single movements from symphonies and solo concertos, as well as operatic overtures, arias and duets from especially popular and well-known works. The Vienna Mozart Concerts even fulfil the wishes of the Stauss lovers by performing the most impressing pieces by the Strauss Dynasty, such as 'The Blue Danube Waltz' and 'The Radetzy March'. For sure you will enjoy the Vienna Mozart Orchestra and 'the best of Mozart and Strauss'!

- mor200125Holon, Israel1 contributionUnique experience i recommend to have at least once. The hall is very unique and beautiful even to Vienna ,there are many tourists ,so i was afraid it will lose to the actual Wiener philarmoniken and other famous wiener musicians. It was of 8-9/10 in terms of quality of playing and opera singers also i would give them the same rate. It was by far my best experience in terms of energy and how wonderful show they made it to be. They gave little fun that was missing (sometimes ) in classical concerts and didn't over do it. Also i speak as a person who listen to classics including opera more than anything else.We thank you for the positive review and we are delighted to know that you have enjoyed our concert. We hope you can come back!Written November 16, 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 6, 2023

The musicians were brilliant and the conductor made it really entertaining. The venue was beautiful. Unfortunately our experience was dampened by a member of staff who told my mum to take her jacket off before going in, we had already paid to leave our coats and larger bags in the cloak room which was fine, but the staff member insisted my mum take her light jacket off. We decided to ignore the staff member and continue walking up the stairs, as they had already made us feel uncomfortable enough. The situation was made worse when we saw many other people wearing jackets and coats inside the venue, some wearing jeans jackets and fleeces. Therefore it was not a dress code issue. There were people dressed in all sorts of attires, shorts, caps, T-shirts, as well as formal wear. I still don't understand what the issue with my mum's jacket was, but I hope it doesn't happen to anyone else.We would like to apologize for the situation, we have contacted the venue so they can have a conversation with their stuff. As you said, coats and big jackets are not allowed in the room for security purposes, but light jackets that will be worn during the performance are nor a problem. We are again very sorry that this has ruined your experience, our aim is for our guests to have a wonderful time from begginig to end. We hope though that your mom was able to enjoy the music and we hope you can come back and have the experience that you deserve!Written November 16, 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited September 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 6, 2023

However, two guests were forced to stand or lean uncomfortably during the performance due to installed flood lights blocking their view. We paid extra for better seats so this was an unfortunate twist to an otherwise lovely evening. We thank you for taking the time to review us, make us very happy to know that you enjoyed the concert!Written November 16, 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited October 2023Written October 22, 2023
- 915petrosGreat Malvern, United Kingdom1 contributionWonderful concert at MusikvereinWe attended a Mozart concert on my birthday, and the whole experience was fantastic. We had a guided tour of the concert hall earlier in the day, where I had the opportunity of testing out the acoustics by singing a verse of Amazing Grace. The concert itself was brilliantly performed and a good balance of music, with two excellent soloists singing arias and duets. The conductor himself played a movement from a violin concerto. Altogether a wonderful way to celebrate a significant birthday.Thank you for trusting us in the celebration of your birthday! - TaraPasibeCharleston, South Carolina2 contributionsAmazing classical music experience in ViennaIt's everything we dreamed of! Hearing Mozart played in one of the world's most famous and beautiful music halls. The talent was high level, the sound was superb and the ambiance was excellent. These musicians and the opera singers were just absolutely fantastic! We are so glad we did this after our trip being cancelled three years ago to COVID...this bucket list item was checked off! I am not going to give less stars for the fact there are people that just don't dress appropriately or have cell phone courtesy. That's just the world in general being classless and inconsiderate. I highly recommend a concert at Musikverein. We paid for the $99 seats about mid-hall...well worth it!We thank you for the positive review and we are delighted to know that you have enjoyed our concert. I bought a VIP ticket online. It included a meal at the restaurant, carriage ride and a concert. The person in charge in the old costume will pick you up at the restaurant!
First of all, the concert was very touristy at first, and a group of tourists took straw photos. Sometimes my uncle would talk to me in Chinese and take a picture of me (we Japanese don't understand Chinese lol). But when the performance started, the audience got more and more engaged, and in the end, there was no one to use their smartphones, and in the end, everyone was in a standing operation. I was expecting a sightseeing show, but Vienna, as expected, impressed me with the level of performance and singing!
The restaurant is Hotel Imperial. Unfortunately, the dinner ended up being the same restaurant as the breakfast venue, since we were staying at the Hotel Imperial in the first place and the restaurant that serves the food was closed, but we enjoyed a rather delicate meal! (← except for the main meal) It seems that I had requested a birthday plate for my wife and she told the restaurant about it, so we were able to celebrate (thank God it was our first birthday celebration since we got married).
The stagecoach trip was lovely, and we just thought we were going to move from the hotel to the venue (next door), but we enjoyed touring around the city!
During the break from the concert, we were able to talk to the conductors and singers over wine in the special room! ← Those who bought VIP tickets could do this, or be guided in old costumes. We seemed to be the only ones who bought VIP tickets that day, so it was a very intense time (beware that there are 40 people buying VIP tickets on some days). The guide seemed to be a student, aiming for the same qualification as my wife & I also teach at the university, so it was fun to hear various local atmospheres. I also enjoy listening to souvenir CDs!
Clothing, jacket, bow tie & suitable dress, but just right. Some of them were wearing cocktail dresses, but it seemed like they didn't have to worry so much because it was a touristy audience.

Traveling with my husband and 2 daughters in their 20's, this was a fun way to spend our first night in Vienna. All of us have an interest in Mozart's music as well as theater, so we enjoyed the music, opera singers, costumes and audience interaction of the conductor. The musicians were excellent and the performances had a lot of energy. I opted for the Category A performance and dinner, and though I felt the show was worth the price, the dinner (for the cost) was ok. The dining room was lovely, service very attentive, but food was expensive for what it was and drinks and cocktails all cost extra. If I had to do it over, I'd skip the dinner.

I thought I would leave in the middle break time, because I didn’t know much about music. But I was totally amazed by the performance: every musician’s expression was like giving out a story. I never knew violin could be played in so many ways. After this I would never listen to the classical music the same way. Love this great experience!!

Our family visit to the Vienna Mozart Concerts exceeded expectations. All of the artists were amazing. The vocalists are very gifted, and we found ourselves fortunate to have seen this performance. The orchestra and conductor worked together seamlessly. This was one of our favorite memories from our vacation and I would highly recommend anyone visiting Vienna add this performance to their agenda.

I purchased the concert tickets several months in advance as a way to celebrate my husband's birthday. He is a composer and musician and had never been to Vienna. Our seats were perfect. We enjoyed dinner around the corner so we were relaxed getting to the concert on time. The entire evening flowed beginning with a stunning venue, talented musicians, a conductor who brought the entire audience together in a joyous way, and music that continued to play in my head for the balance of our trip. My husband delighted in some of the period instruments and the arrangement and choice of music. The singers talents enlivened the evening. It was a magical experience all around!

We chose dinner / concert tickets- dinner at the Grand Hotel Vienna was delicious, elegant and service was outstanding. The Vienna Mozart concert was well organised, and the musicians were everything I had hoped- professional, entertaining, and precise. The oboe soloist was my favourite.

All of the musicians didn't perform like it was their 100th show, they interacted with each other and the public as it was a gift for the people. They smiled a lot, the whole show was joyful and a delight to be able to watch, listen and participate. The enthusiasm was excellent.

The concert hall has the best acoustics. The orchestra conductor, a real showman.
The dinner was nothing special considering the price, but impeccable customer services.
I recommend the Musikverein concert, worthy of special note, due to its great performance!

Truth be told, I like to every now and then hear some classical music but my music is more of the 80's/90's rocks. Wife wanted to go so we went. The entrance was a bit chaotic until we finally found our places to sit (hint: the first level seats on the side towards the front are much better imo than the ones straight in front.). Found to the show to be very engaging visually and musically. Would highly recommend if looking for this type of activity and if you can get the right tickets (people on the second floor and towards the back were having a hard time seeing and it was common to see them standing up to catch a glimpse of what was going on).

Hi,
Mu husband and I want to see this concert but not sure if jeans are allowed. We read mixed reviews regarding this issue. We don't want to buy a complete outfit just to go to the concert.
Anyone who can give us advice regarding this matter ? I appreciate the advice.
Carolyn.

Dear Carolyn S,
please excuse our late answer.
In general, we recommend smart attire, but there is no defined dresscode. However, we advise our guests that wearing a beach outfit (shorts + sandals) is not welcomed.
We hope you enjoyed our performance and had a pleasant evening.
Kind regards,

Does the Vienna Mozart Orchestra perform in December? I'll be visiting the city over the Christmas week and wanted to try a touristy concert in historical dress.
The orchestra's website does not have any listing from November put up yet and Wiki says it's off season for them that period
Written April 12, 2019
Hello kaimun,
unfortunately, the Vienna Mozart Orchestra does not perform in December in Vienna. Our orchestra performs from beginning of April until end of October in Vienna. During the off-season from November until end of March, the orchestra may perform abroad as part of an international tour.

Hello,
if you bought a ticket on our website, please print it out as indicated on the e-ticket. In case you do not have access to a printer, you can come to the box office at the concert venue before the concert and we will give you printed tickets.

As almost all the attendees at this Mozart Concert were tourist, most were dressed very casually. Just go and enjoy yourselves. This is a great venue for hearing a variety of Mozart pieces.
Written October 1, 2017
What is the dress code? I know it says smart causal but what does that mean?
Written January 8, 2017
No, there was not a dress code. Having said that, we went after a day of sightseeing on a hot day and were wearing shorts. That turned out to be very embarrassing because our seats were on the stage facing the audience. I could touch the French Horn players. My advice is to at least wear long pants! ;)
