This church situated a few minutes away from St Stephan Cathedral, had a strong impact on me at my first visit here. The ceiling, all the paintings and sculptures creates a special atmosphere, like nowhere else.Every time I go to Vienna ,I find time to spend some time at this church.I strongly suggest to visit it,especially when they have organ concerts.

I like this Cathedral. Small but beautiful interior and the sound system is great. I heard choirs like angels singing. Viennese are religious people. This little cathedral still full in the evening praying time.

Excellent evening concert by CLASSIC ENSEMBLE VIENNA, a string quartet, in the intimate crypt of St Peters church. This was the best concert that I attended in Vienna. Acoustics were wonderful and the playing was outstanding by 4 talented young musicians who treated us to Mozart, Vivaldi, Bach, Schubert and Beethoven, with encores including Fritz Kreisler. Top recommendation!

Peterskirche is one of the oldest churches in Vienna (obviously redone in the baroque age). It is sumptuous to the point of overindulgence, but it's also very beautiful and well worth the visit!

The church is wonderful, I visit it each time when I am in Vienna. It has rich, elegant decoration and many times there are organ concerts. If you stay at Wandl hotel, ask for a room with view to the church, is it really special. A quiet, lovely place in the middle of a busy, noisy city but so attractive... More

We were lucky enough to pop out heads in the door as an Organ recital was about to begin. The organist played a marvellous repertoire of music including compositions from Bach. Probably my favourite highlight of my entire Vienna trip

Since this was right across from our hotel, we visited it daily for prayers. George, the attendant, was so friendly and helped us translate things we couldn't read.

The church provides an ethereal setting for organ concerts. We booked a chamber music concert in the crypt. The sound quality was rich but it was hot and claustrophobic.

The stairs going up the dome of the church is a bit shaky that it made my husband nauseous, so it is not recommended for persons who has acrophobia or prone to seasickness. All in all, there isn't much to see in the church, but it is much peaceful than the Stephansdom which was like a marketplace.

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
