We wanted to see this one-of-a-kind building, a waste incinerator, a power plant with a facade designed by the visual artist and architect Friedenreich Hundertwasser.
We reached it with the U4 metro line, and at the Spittelau station, we went upstairs to the U6 line station, which runs high above ground on the tracks of the former Stadtbahn.
The facade of the power plant is so funny and lively, like a joke, typical Hundertwasser art! Without it this would be another mundane, ugly industrial building... Very interesting is the huge, shiny sphere-like addition on the smaller chimney. There is an anecdote about how it was conceived. Hundertwasseer frequently argued with the builders and at one moment he said impatiently: „Ich hau den Hut drauf!“, an Austrian expression for giving up, meaning literally: "I'll throw the hat on it!" The builders thought that was a good idea and the rest is history.
Unfortunately, we did not find the exit from the metro station to the outdoor corridor to get a better view.

Although it might not seem the most exciting structure to view if you're planning a holiday to Vienna but Spittelau Incinerator is a great site to take in .
A wonderful piece of architecture ,it's known as The Hundertwasser Incinerator after the architect who designed it ,to me it's a piece of art ,it's worth checking out if you're in the area, best views are from Spittelauer Lande.
