Beautiful building!

Visited in September when the circus came to town! The building with all its hanging baskets of colorful red flowers was stunning. A good place to stop for a FREE w/c visit! ;)

Wonderful Christmas market is held here in December. Over 100 vendors with a wide variety of items and foods plus an ice skating rink. This market had some higher quality items including carved wood nativity figurines and and wooden children's' toys. At night this setting is magical!

There is always something going on there: a large skating rink at the beginning of the year, a large Screen with Musical Performances every night where you can sit and watch for free, Weekends with Groups of a Special province and ist specialties, "Christkindl-Markt" and a big Christmas tree throughout December, Sports Events in-between, etc. something for everybody.

Nice area and beautiful building. Opposite of Rathaus there is Burgtheater which building looks beautiful too. There is a park around Rathausplatz which propably looks more beautiful in summer time.

The Rathausplatz is not only worth a visit because of the breathtaking views of the Rathaus itself, but also because of its amazing ice rink. We visited this place on our last night in Vienna, and the experience of ice skating with such a magnificent view as the illuminated Rathaus in the background, will surely be an unforgettable memory. This is the city hall sited on the Ringstrasse. It formed part of the city design by Franz Josef and is worth a visit to see the stalls erected in the square before it.

This is worth the walk from wherever you are staying. VNA is a very walk about town. This is even more so the case if you are their Christmas.

We were there for Xmas markets and the market outside this attraction is one one the very best with HUGE ice rink! Great coffee house inside - lovely cakes and amazing mini sandwiches - all good value.

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
