Just a side attraction among the massive number of things to do near Hofburg palace. Free for public. They do organ concerts on Saturdays, would have liked to try it out but schedule did not permit. It's very nice inside, would recommend a visit.

On a plaza flanked by entrances to the famous Spanish Horse Stables and two excellent cafes that you should try is this gem of a church. Well worth a visit. Not as huge as St. Stephens but very pretty (lots of gold and statues) and very tranquil. Doesn't get a crush of tourists but more than a few people praying.

There are so many nice churches in Vienna and each is as impressive as the next. This church has an ornate altar, some grand statues and a majestic organ.

Small, quiet church but lovely ambiance and despite the scaffolding, managed to get a great picture of the statue above the door. This was my favourite church in Vienna and had a very welcoming feel. It's just across from the Hofburg and near the National Library.

Smaller less visited church but no less interesting and beautiful. The interior is beautiful and worth the visit. It is a nice place for a short respite from all the hustle outside. Take time to read up on its past history.

The guide was fine, but 2/3 - 3/4 of the commentary was in German with puny English commentary. Look for an English only tout to avoud wasting a lot of time. The first part was excavated Roman ruins that we found uninteresting.

This is a nice place to relax and admire some treasures from different ages, like Gothic paintings and architecture. This is an oasis in crowded Vienna.

Spend time visiting this lovely church situaded in Michaelerplatz. It´s free and it is a quiet place to be. I was there alone on April 7th morning! The interior of the church consists of a nave and two aisles that have conserved the ancient Gothic structure. The side chapels were added later on. It gives the impression of a robust... More

This is not the most impressive of the churches in Vienna in majesty or ornamentation, but if you love being very, very close to history it should top your list. The church itself dates to medieval times and they have carefully uncovered some frescoes and other bits of painting on the pillars and walls throughout this small church that give... More

This is a great church to visit at any time with medieval architecture, baroque decoration and wall paintings. It's also open well into the evening when you can have it to yourself (except when they have s concert on). However it really scores on the guided crypt tours where you learn so much history. As well as lots of coffins... More

Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
