Unfortunately the whole Neuer Markt was cordoned off for some construction work. That includes the area where the fountain is. Quite disappointed to be honest.

Donnerbrunnen (Providentia Fountain) can be found in the centre of Neumarkt in the city centre of Vienna. This elegantly designed fountain was created by Austrian sculptor Georg Raphael Doner in 1737. The fountain is highlighted by a centre statue of Providentia, who was believed to forecast adequate ad ample supply of water to the city of Vienna. It's an alright looking fountain. Not a lot to look at. I happened to be walking past. Not worth going out of the way for.

While wandering the pedestrian zones in the inner city, we came across this fountain.created in the 18th century. Its central figure represents Providence or fortune and the four outside figures are supposed to represent the four main rivers of Austria. Pretty fountain in anny event. beware of cars--the fountain sits in the middle of a large parking area but is only steps from St. Stephans Cathedral.…
