The venue was great: small, intimate with nice acoustic resonance. As others have said, if you wish to sit for a show you must purchase tickets ahead of time specifically for a seat. They sell other tickets for standing room only. Limited cocktail/snack menu. Friendly...More

Porgy & Bess has a very varied lineup of differing jazz ensembles. We went to hear the Leadbelly Project and it was fabulous. Do reserve in advance, though, otherwise it'll be standing room only!

Popular performance meant we were crammed in like sardines, once you were in there was no getting out! Thank goodness for table service. We shared a table with another couple. One small table to 4 chairs seemed to be the standard. Beer reasonably priced. Acoustics...More

I visited when Ed Motta was performing there. And I was dancing as the music was very groovy! So I think it depends on the artist. I really liked it!

Porgy and Bess do sometimes do Jazz for Kids concerts, so it may be worth ringing in advance to see if anything coincides with your visit.
