We really enjoyed our tour with Herbert. Our tour was July 5th which also happened to be my birthday, I decided to keep quiet about that though! Our group was quite small, there was 8 in total including myself and my husband. We found Herbert to be very informative and interesting, he really holds your attention, after the tour we... More

Herbert Stojaspal, our guide, adjusted his tour information to our interests and questions. He had a tablet to assist in his explanations and history lessons. Entertaining, informative, and interesting.

Herbert's tour was our favourite day we spent in Vienna. We learned a ton and were able to see just about all of the sites we were interested in as well as learned a lot about all the buildings, monuments and architecture as well as the rich history of Vienna and its royalty. We would highly recommend his tour it... More

Had a really interesting 21/2 hr walk round the inner city of vienna with Herbert Stojaspal. We were really lucky as we were the only two so it was good to talk. Herbert took us through the little streets of Vienna pointing out all the relevant history. We would have missed out a lot by doing it alone. Thoroughly recommended.

We did a 2 1/2 hour tour with Hertert Stojaspal though Viennatour. He was a very knowledgable and entertaining guide. He gave interesting insights on points of Viennese history and provided additional information and photos to illustrate the tour. He also gave advice about tourist pitfalls, a nice additional touch. Recommend this tour guide highly.

TLDR: Walked by this tour, got barked at by Herbert the tour guide, got told "to go piss off," and told to write this review. So I did. So this will be weird, but I feel I should share. Me and my fiance were walking through Vienna (central, touristy, old Vienna) and we found ourselves in the midst of a... More

This was a great walking tour. Herbert was a fantastic guide. We walked around the Hofburg Palace complex, where Herbert pointed out several interesting sites and provided a great overview of the history of Vienna and the Habsburg dynasty. We then walked further into the city center, where Herbert covered WWII history, and pointed out more historic sites. It was... More

The tour guide was experienced and very informative, giving lots of interesting information about buildings and important people related to Vienna's history. The tour does last two hours but you'll hardly see them go by and this way get to see all the important parts with added info about each. The tour guide was also very helpful recommending restaurants, museums... More

After traipsing through most of the major cities in central and eastern Europe, I can say that this is one of the better walking tours. It's definitely worth the two hours and the reasonable price. Herbert has exceptional knowledge of European history and presents it very well. His interactive style also helps keep it interesting so the non-history buffs don't... More

This was a two hour tour, on foot, but with many stops for our guide Herbert to point out buildings and tie them in with the history of Vienna. It pulled together many half-remembered bits of history and helped us choose what places to visit for the rest of our time here. Herbert is very knowledgeable, speaks excellent English and... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
