This was the perfect day out: sunny weather, beautiful scenery, good company and fun exercise. On showshoes we were able to explore the snowy landscape freely, and we seemed to have the Austrian mountains all to ourselves. Yannick organised the day superbly with consummate experience and skill, and everyone had a really good time.

We did a snowwalk with a group of Dutch ladies for a bachelor party and it was AMAZING! Beautiful scenery, lots of untouched snow, only 1,5 hours from Vienna. A must do if you live in Vienna. Yannick is a great guide, funny but professional.

Everything about the walk was amazing. We walked through a beautiful forest, where our footprints were the first ones, up the mountain with a breathtaking view. Yannick, the guide is a very experienced guide and tailors the walk to your wishes and abilities. It is an activity I would really recommend to do with Trekking Austria!

Last Saturday we (8 Dutch ladies, living in Vienna) spent a day snow hiking with Yannick. It was an awesome experience. I could really recommend this to do. Yannick is a great guide, with much experience. He knows a lot about the mountains and shares nice information about the area. Also the contact with Yannick before the trip was easy.... More

Yannick was a great guide! My daughter and I wanted a challenging hike and he didn't disappoint. Scenery was beautiful...lots of snow! I think this day was the highlight of our trip to Austria. Thanks Yannick!

Really enjoyed the hike, Yannick is a very professional guide and good company too! Although I did not know anyone within the group, the atmosphere was very friendly from the beginning and we had a great time altogether. Looking forward to the next hike!

We started out the day a bit easy then the butt kicking started 30 minutes into the hike it was very challenging at some points but you always get a feeling of happiness and accomplishment once you overcome the challenge. I was an amazing experience, one we wont be forgetting for a while. Thank you Yannick!!

This 3 day trekking trip with Yannick was unforgettable. It will provide you with a physical challenge (it may even kick your butt in places). it will deliver spectacular, exhilirating and pristine scenery (amazing how Yannick took on us trails for hours without seeing one human, only Ibex and Capricorns). It will motivate you to meet other people from other cultures... More

Staying in Ottakring

Neighborhood Profile
Ottakring
The production site of popular Ottakringer beer brews up an exciting mix of working and middle class suburbs, Balkanese immigrant lifestyles, and lush patches of hilly woodland. The recently gentrified area around Yppenplatz and Brunnenmarkt boasts hip cafés and bars next to South East European delicacies at Brunnenmarkt street market. The dynamics of Ottakring become most apparent at its vibrant high street Ottakringer Strasse. At the top end you can feast on wine and local food in Austria’s oldest wine tavern 10er Marie. The wines are from the tavern’s own urban vineyards. Before you head upwards, make sure you pay a visit to the historic courtyards between Lerchenfelder Gürtel and Hippgasse. When locals visit Ottakring’s hilly green outskirts on the weekends they either climb up 31 meters of Jubiläumswarte viewing tower on Gallitzinberg, have a succulent Wiener Schnitzel at Villa Aurora, or reward their hiking exertions around Wilhelminenberg with a drink and a view from Wilhelminenberg Palace (now a hotel and restaurant).
