Another statue of a great composer

This statue is easy to look at and it kind of enlightens people looking at it. Worth visiting the stadtpark to see this one and other statues in the park.

Being internationally renowned and one of the iconic symbols of Vienna and its music, I think that Strauss deserved a much bigger monument than this one. Since almost everything is grand in Vienna, even its fountains, I expected something more imposing. At least, it is made in bronze. It is a beautiful statue though and there is maybe history or... When we arrived at the park just to the left of the statue we were a bit surprised by the 200+ people lying in groups on the lawn on their phones. It took my 11 year old to explain to me that they were all playing Pokémon go. The statue and monument itself are beautiful.

This Park is great to visit if you're staying in the area, but not really worth going out of your way to get here. Strauss Monument, the lake and the cafe with outdoor seating may be the highlights.

We went to this park especially to see the Golden Strauss statue. I thought it was beautiful, lovely planted area around it, even in Winter. It was not very busy when we visited, the whole park was nice and I can imagine looks lovely when filled with colourful Spring and Summer flowers.

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
