Should not be allowed to review this as I am Russian and therefore biased))
It's a lovely church. Looks like something out of a children's book.
Recently renovated, so a bit too "artificial" for my personal taste (just because I have been to many others back home).
Keep in mind that women should cover their heads when entering an Orthodox church so take a headscarf with you if you want to go inside.
Worth a visit if you're staying in one of the many nearby hotels.

It is considered as one the most sumptuous and grandiose of the churches of St. Petersburg. Completed in 1858, it is one of the most important neoclassical monuments of Russian architecture of the nineteenth century.

It is located in the centre of the city, in the square of the same name, near Nevsky Avenue and the Hermitage Museum. It has one of the largest domes in the world and is the second highest Orthodox church in the world, 101.5 meters high, behind the Cathedral of Christ the Savior of Moscow that reaches 103 meters.

We stay usually in the Imperial Ridng School Renaissance Hotel. From our window we can see always this beuatiful church. The golden roof is newly renovated, beautiful. If you have a chance to get inside - before and after the masses it is possible, you will love it.

This church was in front of our hotel, and is really impressive, so we decided to visit it,on Christmas Eve.My family and I are greek Orthodox, so we wanted to pray.
But inside the atmosphere was awfull, because of a woman who was responsible. She spoked russian or german, not english, so we couldn't understand her.She gave us orders in an ungry, insallting way,to close the door, to put the money for a candle somewhere.
But she insisted to speak in german and didn't make an effort to explain what he wanted. Too bad a person like that to be in the reception of a church, home of God.
When you visit a church,it's supposed to be welcomed by love and kindness, not rudeness and missery.
We rushed out and didn't have the mood for praying.
Too bad ,it was Christmas Eve!

The interior of the church is only open a few hours on Sunday morning, and the opening times coincide with the religious service and, therefore, pictures are not permitted.

Absolutely stunning Russian Orthodox Cathedral in a very peaceful district of Vienna.
The nearest station and the most convenient one to get to is Rennweg on the Pink Line of overground S1, direction Bahnhoff Meidling.
The Cathedral is open Monday-Friday 10am-2pm. Saturday: 10am-8pm.
It’s gorgeous both outside and inside.
If you want to see it, visiting hours above are recommended. During the service (times vary), it will be difficult to move around inside.
No photography is allowed inside and dress code is expecting to have shoulders covered.

Beautiful church and artwork. Unfortunately, only the main church is accessible except on Sundays when the Museum, Shop and downstairs chapel is open. We stopped twice and one night we were able to get into the chapel as a music group was setting up rehearsal. Sunday visit highly recommended. Very limited English speakers, mostly Russian and Austrian/German.

We were lucky to find out about this from a free map as it is astonishingly not in either of our guide books. It definitely ranks in my top 10 sites. The interior is painted with gorgeous frescoes and there are a number of beautiful icons. The exterior is wonderful too from the typical onion dome to the roof mosaic reminiscent of the cathedral. Its only 5mins walk from the lower belvedere so would easily tie in with a visit there.

It is a must in Vienna. Located at the Embassy quarters at the third district you will be flabbergasted by its beauty. The outside shines with glod and good taste. Closeby you can take the schnellbahn RENWEG

If like us you were lucky enough to stay at the Imperial Renaissance Riding School Hotel, you will have a free view of this every day out of your window. It has a beauty that can be appreciated without even going in. Located near the train station at Rennweg or a few minutes walk from the number 71 tram stop at Rennwegg (opposite Belvedere Palace). The church itself has limited opening times. The gilt domes glisten in the sunlight and is equally impressive with its modest lighting in the evening.
