Zoo Vienna, the oldest existing zoo in the world founded in 1752. Schonbrunn Zoo was voted Europe's best in 2008, 2010 and 2012. Schonbrunn Zoo is the perfect place for a journey into the fascinating world of the animal kingdom. Open year round, it combines the highlights of the natural world with an unparalleled history as the world's oldest and Europe's best zoo. It is part of Schonbrunn as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage listed site and home to more than 700 species of animals. Marvel at the Giant pandas, tigers, orangutans, koalas and elephants, immerse yourself in the magic of the Amazon and feel the heat of a tropical rainforest in the heart of Europe. Moderated feeding sessions, guided tours and a trip aboard the panorama train turn a trip to the zoo into an unforgettable experience.

I'm not usually a fan of zoos - animals forlornly wandering around tiny enclosures, poor food for visitors, etc. but I loved this one. The enclosures all looked excellent - large and well cared for. A huge array of animals to see, great places to...More

This zoo would be perfect for families and anyone else who is fond of animals. All the animals looked well cared for and happy (except for the Asian elephants, I am not sure why they looked so thin). The underground station (Hietzinger) is close to...More

Founded in 1752, this is the oldest zoo in the world! It's vast, clean, and filled with great animal attractions. We spent over 5 hours here and it was worth every minute. A great zoo!

The zoo was clean, cheerful, well maintained, user friendly and most importantly, the animals seemed healthy and content. Excellent for families, with good amenities. For tourists, the location of the zoo in the grounds of the Schonbrunn Palace is extremely convenient.

Our main purpose to visit the Zoo was to see the Panda but unfortunately, Panda wasn't available due to the recent delivery. To our knowledge, there were two pandas and we were expecting to see one of them at least. But no luck. Zoo was...More

Good variety of well looked after animals and constructive use of space. Disappointed that despite adverts all over the city inviting us to visit the pandas, the panda enclosure was closed. Loved the keeper that entertained us with the seal feeding but generally saw very...More

Vienna’s 13th district has always been in the shadow
of Schönbrunn Palace and its gardens, but has
interesting hidden gems waiting to be discovered.
Allow half a day for the imposing Habsburg residence
and the gardens with Gloriette belvedere. Reserve the
other half to discover the secret charms of this posh
residential neighborhood. Sneak out of the gardens at
Hietzinger Tor (Hietzing Gate) and head down
