Zoo Vienna, the oldest existing zoo in the world founded in 1752. Schonbrunn Zoo was voted Europe's best in 2008, 2010 and 2012. Schonbrunn Zoo is the perfect place for a journey into the fascinating world of the animal kingdom. Open year round, it combines the highlights of the natural world with an unparalleled history as the world's oldest and Europe's best zoo. It is part of Schonbrunn as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage listed site and home to more than 700 species of animals. Marvel at the Giant pandas, tigers, orangutans, koalas and elephants, immerse yourself in the magic of the Amazon and feel the heat of a tropical rainforest in the heart of Europe. Moderated feeding sessions, guided tours and a trip aboard the panorama train turn a trip to the zoo into an unforgettable experience.

Easily the best zoo that I've been too. Plan to spend 3-4 hours there. It seems well kept for a zoo and the enclosures appear appropriate sizes for the animals. My family had lots of fun there. I'm glad that we didn't miss this attraction.

This zoo is amazingly charming. There are plenty of different species, and they all seem to be well cared for. Our favorites were the panda bears (who usually eat their bamboos with their backs turned away from curious visitors), the koala and polar bears, the...More

We enjoyed visiting the zoo while we were in Vienna . No children with us - just my husband and myself. We wanted an opportunity to walk around and view the animals. Very pleasant experience. Nice grounds and well laid out

We decided to try the zoo instead of the palace which was very busy. So glad we did as we had a fantastic day. The zoo is really well laid out and each area has been given plenty of thought. There are several areas where...More

Not much to say really. A zoo is a zoo and this is a really good zoo. As always some animals have pens which seem too big and others have those which seem too small but that is the same the world over. The animals...More

Nice was to spend a leisurely afternoon. Only issue we had was with the time of the year we were there, some of the animals were inside or not visible due to heat

Great visit to the zoo, was really hot that day so some of the animals were a bit out of site. But the zoo itself is beautiful, being on the palace grounds. A little expense, around $25 USD or so - but I really wanted...More

I visited for the first time in a few years and really enjoyed wandering around. The zoo has done a lot in recent years to make the enclosures more comfortable for the animals and that is great to see. This is definitely an all ages...More

Vienna’s 13th district has always been in the shadow
of Schönbrunn Palace and its gardens, but has
interesting hidden gems waiting to be discovered.
Allow half a day for the imposing Habsburg residence
and the gardens with Gloriette belvedere. Reserve the
other half to discover the secret charms of this posh
residential neighborhood. Sneak out of the gardens at
Hietzinger Tor (Hietzing Gate) and head down
