In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.

My twin brother Stephen and I were in Vienna for the run up to Christmas visiting the many Christmas markets in this most beautiful of city's ,enjoying the great pubs, bars and restaurants and taking in the stunning architecture ,one of the many buildings that we viewed was Altes Rathaus.
Altes Rathaus ( Old City Hall ) has been around since 1316 and was donated to the city by Frederick The Fair ,it's been the property of the city since it's donation ,a beautiful building ,in my opinion one of the most impressive features of the building are the entrance doors dating from the 1700's ,now used as a Government building ,it's a building to most definitely check out if you're in the area and easy to locate along Wipplingerstraße.
