Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city center and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theaters, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.

The first part is nice and instructive. However the second part which is the game section does not worth it. It is almost empty and at the time of our visit some of the animations were also out of service.

Way over priced. The exhibits were old and tired. Many broken and dusty but as you can see from the photos we made the best of it

It was a waste of time&money. Yes, you can learn about chocolate history if you read from the pannels but you can also search it on google... a lot of empty space, many broken objects and others in a bad state. You can take some pictures with some things over there but that’s all.

We have been waiting for this experience which should have been one of the highlights of our holiday. It was fun and a great experience however we were slightly disappointed we could not make the chocolate ourselves. It would have been nice to pour the chocolate yourself in the provided containers. All you are allowed to do is to decorate your own chocolate. However, you feel proud you made chocolate yourself.

Uninteresting museum, don’t go there!
Even my daughter who is 9 did not enjoy the visit!

The museum is totally depressing and broken down. I can’t believe they even call it a “museum.” This place is just a spot to take tourists’ money. Do not go.

We spend around 20 min. In there. Its a shame how they dont take care of the place. Most things are.broke and very very bad maintained. You can tell that the owners dont care! Its overpriced for what it is.... thing twice before going.

We visited the chocolate museum and also did the chocolate making activity. Both were excellent. Our chocolate teacher was very nice and helpful and took the class through the process step by step. The museum was very informative and we learned a lot about the history of chocolate and how it is cultivated. Well worth a visit when in Vienna.

Our group ranged from 6 to 76 years old and everyone had fun... ! The chocolate workshop was great- you get to pour chocolate into your own mould and then decorate, its then chilled and you take with you straight away. The staff were welcoming and engaging with the kids. We then had a tour of the museum, the kids loved the interactive section at the end. Really good entertainment with chocolate education!

A huge let down. The website gave off this ‘big chocolate experience’ but for 15 euros you get a very small walk through which is poorly constructed and curated. The text around the area is too long, full of grammatical errors and adult like whilst the set-up is excruciatingly child-like and tacky (statue of atlantis with a borat thong??) ... come on! Half the items weren’t switched on or working. It was such a let down that after having spent €15 to enter the museum we decided we won’t waste anymore money and ran out of the gift shop. The website also lists a chocolate gift at the end. There was nothing. A great experience would have been if you get to taste the various chocolates and determine it’s bitterness and taste according to it’s originis. I suggest not visiting at all. It took us 15/20 minutes to go around.

We didn’t purchase the tickets prior to arriving and entered straight away with no waiting. I’m not sure about those child prices

How long is the “be a chocolatier for a day” experience?

We booked the chocolate making experience and it lasted about 90 minutes. It was quite a large class which they said was unusual. The chocolate was already made but we selected our moulds, added the chocolate and selected different toppings to our own individual taste and design. We then made hot chocolate from scratch adding the ingredients to our own taste. Not sure what a hole day expereince would consist of, but our visit was very enjoyable.
