In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.

- NilsM73Bergen, Norway114 contributionsIllustrious2 adults and a 13 year old. Great fun, takes about 1 hour. It's not very big, but enough illusions to create great memories (and photos). I would order tickets up front to skip the line.Visited April 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 17, 2023

- Seeking True QualityEurope4,803 contributionsTotally weird! We visited this excellent little museum and we were delighted! We found a lot of illusions there, of various kinds: optical illusions, disorienting and confusing rooms, mirrors, amazing puzzles, etc. The vast majority of the illusions were pure fun. For example, there is a table with a plate and a living human head on it! Or there is a room with two persons, one oversized, the other tiny, but when they change their place their sizes change too - now the first one becomes tiny, the other huge. The illusions with mirrors are also quite entertaining, but when one is inside a room with mirrors and multiple reflections around him/her, the experience can be confusing. Some of those illusions work only when a photo is taken, for example, the gravity-defying room! For the two of us, the most interesting and the most disorienting is a tilted room with various patterns on the floor, walls and ceiling designed to confuse! Nothing moves actually, but when one makes a step, the patterns strongly suggest that the floor is moving. Our sense of balance was challenged and at one moment we simply did not know any more where the direction of "down" was! Although confusing, it is a fantastic experience! We bought some superb mechanical puzzles when we were leaving the museum in the little shop at the entrance!Visited March 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten February 26, 2024

We were disappointed by what is offered given the ticket price. For 13 EUR we were expecting a real museum, not just 2 rooms we were done with in 20 min. The rooms were crowded and we were not even able to make use of some photo points or try out some gimmicks.
The museum mainly offers some larger printouts of what you might have seen in a standard book of visual effects / illusions. Overall, we were dis-illusioned. We can not recommend it.

Like many who have reviewed this museum, I wish I had read the reviews prior to visiting.
The space is very small, we spent less than 30 minutes there due to how small the space is and number of other tourists making it impossible to really enjoy.
My son spent a goodly amount of time trying to discover if there was a second level to the venue as he was convinced there must be an illusionary entrance somewhere given the price. Alas all he found was a electrical cupboard.

After a full hour in the queue (online tickets are a waste of time as do not give you a specific time slot or preference in queue) we entered the museum. It is tiny, with disappointing ‘attractions’. Most things like optical illusions are simple and underwhelming, same you can find in free apps or social media posts. Every activity needed to be queued for inside the museum too. Museum would benefit from a slot time system, better attractions and ‘crowd’ control inside.

Overpriced (€14/adult and €10/child). The whole experience does not even last 30 mins. Museum is located in a very small premise; visitors are bumping into each other. Experience could be enhanced if the displays were spaced out. I went in with high expectations but was disappointed. More thought and effort is needed. I would say go there only if you’ve run out of things to do or only have a short time.

This is a very small museum with illusions that everyone has seen in books, websites, other locations worldwide. The wait to get in is about 15-30 minutes. Prices are 28 Euro for an adult... Families with kids may enjoy maximum 1 hour. The kids perhaps can enjoy the displays or solving the different puzzles in the museum

Only exists because there are so many tourists in Vienna..
Queues unless you get there early, 14€ per adult and 10€ per kid, for a short experience (3-4 rooms) which consists mostly in toys / displays that are available everywhere. Few exceptions are the photo opportunities but they don't make it worth.
Plenty of others things to do in Vienna...

For the entrance fee, the mini "museum" offers a lot of simple and well-known trick images and only a few really surprising illusions with a wow factor. Long wait outside on the cold street. Not recommended, Vienna has much more to offer elsewhere.

Big disappointment, 14€ per person to visit 4 rooms where half of the illusions can be found and done on the internet and for free.
The Vortex is nice, it lasts ten seconds.
The whole thing is done in 20 minutes.
For €14 there are more interesting things to do in Wien.

Disappointing. There was a queue waiting around the corner for entry and tickets were very expensive for what was 3-4 rooms with very basic illusions in them mostly posters and some wooden puzzles. As it was so busy you couldn't get to take a picture at most illusions without someone walking through it.

A small museum where you only need to spend an hour but be prepared to queue for over an hour outside. Agree with previous reviews that online booking should be given a time slot to avoid the queues. A good array of optical illusions but was expecting more to be available. Not as many interactive ones as we had hoped for.
