The picturesque old town centre of Bregenz. Very nice renaissance architecture and church, with views of the town, below..

The view from the tower is very pleasant. The items displayed may interest some. But the best thing about visiting the tower is the most enjoyable walk up from the old town. Having visited the tower just keep walking away from town to one of the seats along the path offering a splendid view over Bregenz and the lake.

The tower of St Martin it’s situated quite high up but quite easy to get to. The fresco in the church are amazing . The tower has something but not that much ,there’s like a little exposition but it’s only in German. The view from the top it’s breath taking, probably the best view over the lake and the city.

the tower of St. Martin is located in the old city of Bregenz. it can be reached by walk in 10 minutes from the main place Leutbuehl much easier than going by car. in the tower you get an impression how Bregenz looks like in the medieval times.

Paintings on the wall are well preserved in the old chapel. You can see the contrast of newer area of chapel. I personaly like the old remaining in a quiet and beautiful environment.

There is not much on display in the small museum of the Martinsturm, but what there is has been collected and presented with much care and affection. The exhibition details the main events in the history and development of Bregenz, but the information is all in German (including the audio-visial and interactive items). However, and this is really the measure of the place, have a chat with the attendant and she will enthusiastically explain everything and offer a self-penned translation in English (in between taking the entrance fees and washing the windows).

The windows are in the upper level and offer 360 degree views of the picturesque old town and down to the lake.

Bregenz, Austria. There for the opera; for the opera and the spectacular theatre constructed in the water at the edge of Lake Constance ( the Bodensee ) Stunning. Terracotta warriors matching ashore, the Great Wall of China at their back. Nessus Dorma.
Bregenz, Austria. Not there for the silent magic of the old town. Cobbled lane. Mysterious gate, hung with antlers and a fish. Magnificent buildings, resplendent in their peace and quietness. A stork, suspended above the door of a childbirth centre. St Martin's Tower, majestic and imperious.
It may have been Turandot that beckoned us to Bregenz, but that hushed area of the old town will live in my memory just as long.

It is worth a quick visit but the museum is all in German so missed out. Opted for a quick walk up to the top, but it's not that impressive. Lovely for photo opts on the outside.
