It was just okay. Just somewhere if you wanted a walk in a park. Perhaps we are too use to much larger and grander botanical gardens.

Botanical garden can be reached by Bus A from the city centre and Bus H from Railway station the bus stops just outside the garden and the name of the bus stand is Batanischer Strausee. The garden opens at 7.30 am and in the evening closes at 6.30 pm.(timming in June 2013)
As far as the beauty of this well kept garden is concerned I will let the pictures do the talking.

Perhaps not impressive in size or variety, this little garden offers a very pleasant place to just unwind. The ornamental pool of oriental influence contains fish of every colour, from opal to black and even one that is red blue and white.
We were lucky enough to also see a huge bright blue dragonfly. You can meander through shady trees or just sun yourself on a bench. The selection of wheat shows interesting variations, and the herbal garden will excite your sense of smell. All in all although somewhere that may not appeal to the dedicated tourist this is somewhere that I would highly recommend for an interested passer by.

A really nice small botanical garden. Everything well kept, lots in flower (exceeded our expectations for mid July, considering that they have a lot of alpines, which tend to be spring bloomers).
We concentrated on the Alpine house and bed; we didn't go in the (mostly tropical) glasshouses for which an admission is charged.
We parked on the street nearby, and did not get a ticket -- there were no signs. But there's easy access by bus or streetcar.

We used our free bus passes to visit the Botanical Gardens, and were impressed by the variety of plants on display, and the way they were presented. Worth a 90 minute visit.

A lovely, well-maintained garden, nothing special. Hiking in the mountains around gives you a way bigger botanical experience.

If you like Botanical gardens, definitely worth a visit. Wide variety of plants and species. Also a touch and smell garden. Most information signs are in German, directions also in English.

This garden sits high above the city. The space is beautiful. There are trails for walking and places to sit. Plants and flowers are labeled so you can learn about each one. Lots of pretty water features and plenty of shade. There are restrooms and picnic tables.

Situated overlooking Innsbruck, I found the University's Botanical Garden (one of 2000 worldwide) was a steep uphill walk, about 18-20 minutes away from the city centre. Expect to see a lot of green in a confined settling (see photos). As mentioned elsewhere, a small admission fee applies to greenhouses. Separately, a world-class collection of Algae may be useful to those with specialist knowledge.

Is there car parking nearby? Also can a dog (on a lead) accompany her owners to visit this Garden?
