This wide, pedestrian-only street is lined with cafes and shop. Stroll along, soak in the ambience of the town, and look up to see the snow-caped mountains. Continue north to the end of the street to find the Goldenes Dachl (Golden Roof) under which where Emperor Maximilian I once sat to enjoy the festivals on the street below.

The title says it all. It is a main stroll area in the centre of Innsbruck. A must to see. Do not forget to look at the side streets too. We were lucky to see and hear a concert given by BoneyM in a square parallel to the street. Tourist office is nearby, and good to ask or do a... More

An interesting looking structure to take a photo of. The surroundings where it is located are also very nice and worth looking at.

I was only in Innsbruck for a few days, but strolled up and down this wonderfully wide square/street more than once. Reminds me a bit of Prague's Wenceslas Square in its width, its eateries and less happily from my point of view, all of its stores. I'm not a shopper, but I suspect I'm in the minority. At the old... With the view of the famous golden Roof overlooking the mountains which named after the infamous Maria Theresa with the mix of old and new, starting to cross the Arch of Triumph then will see the tower of Mary and the Golden Roof at the end.

Bustling European town full of history largely unspoilt in terms of buildings and character. Sadly some of the tourists we had to compete with were less than pleasant. This street however has the best of shopping but go towards the later afternoon or 1st time of the morning opening hours otherwise it's too chaotic. At other times wander the history... More

Maria Theresa ruled the Habsburg dynasty for 40 years. She would have been proud of this large pedestrianised street named in her honour. No doubt she would have liked to browse the shop windows and stopped for coffee and a slice of strudel just as people enjoy doing today. You get a glimpse of the Golden Roof from the north... More

It used to be a wonderful street with lots of historical buildings, shops, restaurants and ... The 'Kaufhaus Tyrol', a kind of department store. But the old buildings were demolished and replaced by an ugly structure of concrete and glass, housing a modern mall. What a shame, what a huge mistake.
