- jsliwa29apexLancaster, Massachusetts64 contributionsa must see villagethe old town is well worth going to as it is so old and the architecture is quite amazing. the museums/cathedrals are a must see and the little shops and cafes make for a fun excursion. easy to access from almost anywhere due to the train system.recommend111Visited February 2024Traveled with friendsWritten March 12, 2024
- Traveler2504Los Angeles, California217 contributionsWorth a dayNice small city. Worthy of a days visit with a few older streets. Choice of restaurants and coffee houses although the traditional Austrian ones we tried weren’t great. Good tram system.Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 13, 2024
- Tunes79Barrow-in-Furness, United Kingdom569 contributionsA Wonderful SurpriseInnsbruck was very much a short stop between Vienna and Bern for us, and we had planned the Top of Innsbruck trip as our major activity. As such, we left the rest to chance and knew little about the city and what it offered. When we walked only a couple of minutes from our hotel and found the streets of the Altstadt, it was like stepping into another world. So many of the buildings are beautifully decorated; there are sights around every corner; and you can happily wander among the crowds to the river and back in a short time while soaking up the history. The Golden Roof is at the heart of the Altstadt, along with the town tower, but there are many other less well-known buildings and alleys to explore, cafes and restaurants to sample, and shops selling traditional Tirolian goods - I never knew a ham shop was a thing until I came to Innsbruck! It is busy all day and into the evening, but it is great to wander round and discover the historic centre.Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 26, 2024
- Dholakia2014Rajkot, India409 contributionsPicture postcard !Strolled through Altstadt Innsbruck during our short visit while going from Italy to Munich. But we felt that this is a place where you must give couple of days to explore. A beautiful colour full town. It has Picturesque square with many historical landmarks including the Golden Roof, Hofburg Innsbruck, Dom zu St. Jakob and others. Restaurants and stores fill beautiful old style buildings.we saw the oldest hotel of the world. Old town has no vehicle zone which adds comfort to travellers. From some of the narrow streets you can watch majestic Alps. What a wonderful sight to behold!Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten September 12, 2024

Beautiful historic center, which can be visited entirely on foot, where you will find shops under the arcades with typical Tyrolean products, always of high quality. The Christmas decorations are beautiful and refined and enrich the streets and buildings of the center with light and colour.
Furthermore, thanks to the Christmas market houses you will be able to taste various local street foods and buy gifts.
P.S. IN THE HOFGARTEN PARK, a stone's throw from the Palazzo del Teatro you will find a wonderful display of artistic lights, called "LUMAGICA" "to be visited by paying a ticket of 18 Euros per staff, but I assure you that it is worth it, believe me..

Town on a human scale, can be visited in max 2 days. Very windy. The old city is surrounded by kiosks selling typical products, souvenir shops and designer shops. Supermarkets close at 7.30pm and on Saturdays at 6pm. Shops also close very early and this also includes bakeries and bars. There is practically no free or street parking, only paid underground parking. Expensive but very nice city. Highly recommended.

We were in Innsbruck at the end of November with the Christmas market already operational: a fantastic atmosphere given by the snow-capped mountains that surround the city, the lights and decorations that create atmosphere (along with a nice cup of Glühwein, mulled wine that can be had red , white or rosé!). The local craftsmanship at the market is beautiful but also pleasant to walk under the arcades. Beautiful for a cold, but warm weekend.

A quick look at the old town, which will be examined in more detail on the next visit together with the venerable restoration building from 1390, in which not only Goethe tasted the wine twice (1786 & 1790) - including the vaulted cellar with wine bar. This place, or Goethestube, was also the meeting place of many other personalities such as Andreas Hofer (1767-1810), who stayed here after his first victory over the Corsicans - to whom the Franconia owed its annexation. But also Mozart (1769 & 1772) and many others. Unfortunately only noticed at the end of the tour... Golden Eagle...next time 👍🏼A day out is definitely not enough, but a few nice pictures made in the relatively short time like the Triumph Gate (Built in 1765 on the occasion of the wedding of Archduke Leopold to the Spanish princess Maria Ludovica on August 5, 1765) - the Golden Roof with its 2,657 fire-gilded copper shingles - the Landestheater - and the Tyrolean Landesmuseum Ferdinandeum (after Crown Prince Ferdinand),built 1842-46.

The old town of Innsbruck not only has antique buildings, but also has many large-scale modern shopping malls. The colorful buildings located on the north bank of the Inn River are one of the landmarks of Innsbruck and a must-visit place for tourists. There are many shops and restaurants in the old town, which is one of the must-visit areas for tourists to enjoy this picturesque city.

The old city district of Innsbruck is interesting, delightful and very walkable. The Goldenes Dachl is one of the main points of interest during any tour but there is so much more to see here. Beautiful architecture. Lovely atmosphere of the pedestrian streets. Interesting churches and monuments. Inviting coffee shops and restaurants. Attention grabbing street performers.Scenic legendary Inn river. Hofburg Palace. Immerse yourself in this city like we did and you will have a beautiful and interesting fun day in Innsbruck

Charming town which can be visited on foot and which offers plenty of possibilities for eating, drinking and numerous shops.
The different buildings, churches and other tourist places allow you to vary your desires without counting all the activities linked to sporting activities.
No worries about security, very warm welcome and as long as you get by at least in German or English, no problem making yourself understood.
Be careful, however, not to lose sight of the fact that although Innsbruck is a tourist town, store hours are not extended and on Sundays, almost all businesses are closed, so for people wishing to go shopping, do not forget this. ...

You can get a good overview of the old town of Innsbruck in just one day. There are various sights such as the Hofburg, the Hofkirche and the Golden Roof. There are also numerous coffee houses, restaurants and shops. If you want to visit the sights outside the old town, you will need more time (e.g. Ambras Castle).

The old town of Innsbruck itself is worth seeing and it is worth just taking a stroll there. There are many interesting shops and cafés, bars and restaurants. At Christmas time there is a beautiful Christmas market around the Golden Roof, one of the highlights in the old town.
