Three families with 6 adults and 7 teens from Canada completed stages 1, 2 & 3 of the Eagles Way in the Wilder Kaiser. We started above St Johan in Tirol and climbed up, up to Gaudeamusshutte for our first night. Spectacular views, beautiful 'Hut' with quaint rooms, good food and lovely staff. The next day we hiked some extra miles around a couple of detours due to ?helicopters practicing mountain rescue?? We arrived to Pension Maier by the Hintersteiner See. Stayed 2 days and enjoyed the lake and the views. We took the free shuttle into town of Scheffau for cafe and a look about. The final day hiked up and then down to the ski lift to end our fabulous trip in Kufstein. We all loved this trip and found it challenging enough to sweat a bit on the uphills. Going down harder on the older knees. Wear good hiking shoes and bring lots of water and snacks as well as your own linen for the hut. Also rain gear was needed at times. Saw some deer and many great views.
