Give the catacombs a miss: there is absolutely nothing to see of any interest and you will waste 2 euros and 25 minutes of your life wondering why you didn't do better research.

I went to the catacombs with a few friends. I enjoyed the views out of the windows I wish I would have got a tour. I did not get the brochure until I was leaving. The cemetery grounds were very colorful with beautiful flowers.
We loved exploring these old catacombs! If you can't get excited about visiting an old church inside a cave built into the side of a mountain...like, why are you even touring Europe. This is the good stuff!!
We went there with our kids 10, 13 and we were not too impressed. I would skip this attraction. The view from the top was good but nothing to write about. There are better things to see in Salzburg and you can walk the cemetery...More
It was terrifically atmospheric climbing the well worn steps to see the two cave chapels that are suffused with Christianity.
Dating from many centuries ago, with their alcoves, altars and ancient frescoes they make for a thoughtful journey through religious history.

We visited the Catacombs near St. Peter’s and found it unique.
Very beautifull in it’s own way and of course very historical, some people could come here and trace family back for generations.

Right off the side of St Peters Square, we had not planned to visit this particular site, but semi stumbled across it as we were leaving the square. Unique history and were spent some time there looking at all the graves / markers. Fairly interesting.
