....and still superb. High quality beer served out of litre earthenware stein pots....vast old indoor halls where big groups of locals trawl up with their own massive food preparations and hit the beer....very atmispheric and a must-do on every visit to Salzburg

One of the oldest beer halls in Austria. Must visit the place to drink in 1 ltr mugs. Beer is awesome here. Have never seen something like this before.

Great little gem and excellent place for people watching. Their beer is excellent, but use the 1 liter stein as I was told that the smaller one is for kids. Great selection of food and local atmosphere, make it less touristy than some other places in Salzburg. I visit it every time I'm in Salzburg. Sit in the garden for... More

This was easily our favorite beer garden on our trip and we were so happy that we made the day trip from Munich to Salzburg. This beer garden is located in an old monastery. The food windows are located inside in the corridors as you walk through the monastery to get to the garden. Also, at this particular beer garden... More

The food is fine, but the beer and ambience are fantastic. Here you are likely to end up sharing a table with some locals. Visited with extended family after an afternoon of biking through Salzburg. Only one of the other 5 in the family even drinks beer, but all described this as one of the highlights. The atmosphere is great,... More

Great beer halls, nice garden and the beer was wonderful. Well worth a trip. Pick up a stein, pay. Drink. Repeat.

This beer hall /beer garden was recommended to us by a local and we sure appreciated the tip. After spending the day climbing up to the fortress and ambling about the Old Town in 32 degrees Celsius, a beer was exactly what we needed. We were awestruck by the sheer size of the garden and how popular it was. The... More

In our short time in Salzburg, we came here 4 times! It's huge, and the outdoor seating area was cool. They were showing football games for people to see. You have to pay for a beer and then you get the stein (€6.20 for a liter) and give your receipt to the guy at the tap. There's only one choice,... More
