Salzburg is simply lovely as a city. Crossing the Salzach River into the old town up to Mozart Platz brings you into a beautiful set of squares, with music old and new playing almost everywhere. Be sure to see the cathedral and Mozart's baptismal font, and, even more, be sure to attend one of the many afternoon concerts that are... More

You can cover the old town in a day, when you just walk around. It is always full with people, locals and tourists as well. A lot of shops, restaurants, cafés and a lot to see. Churches, courtyards. A must if you are in Salzburg.

There is so much to do and see in Salzburg. I would recommend fighting the crowds that get worse around midday due to the tours coming through and making day trips out of it. There is also some construction happening around town which can cause confusion and make your travel a little hectic. But with that said, it is so... More

Granted UNESCO World Cultural Heritage for the historical Old Town you must visit and I'm 99.9% sure that all tourists to Salzburg do go. There is something for everyone from the Cathedral and the history of the Prince Archbishops, Morzart and his life pre-Vienna and of course the Sound of Music. It is beautiful, pedestrianised and just lovely. In order... More

Went for the christmas markets in December - wonderful picture postcard setting. Markets are extensive but as with most of these there is not a lot of variety as to what they sell - also get very busy in the evenings Overall though well worth a visit for the setting alone

Salzburg is a wonderful town, particularly the Old Stadt or old part. There are lots of quaint lanes and courtyards to discover. Above all in this area you will find countless references to Mozart as salzburg is where he was born and lived. You will see countless cutouts of Mozart and countless places where you will see the fmous Moart... More

A great day. We've been there in summer, fall & winter and it's always nice to visit. Plenty of shops, cafes, and bars to just sit and enjoy the views. We always come back to Salzburg and Old Town

Salzburg is a beautiful city to explore. The Old Town has surprises around each corner, and is a lovely place to shop. I would give the town architecture, street musicians, statues and overall allure 5 stars. My 4 star rating is due to some of the shop keepers. Some were very nice, while others seemed like they could barely tolerate... More

The city center feels like small medieval town with its narrow alleys, preserved architecture and charming atmosphere. Although it gets quite peaceful around late evening when most people retreat to hotels/concerts. PS - No wonder, the whole old town is UNESCO world heritage site. In this respect, its beauty is comparable to Prague whose city center also somehow survived the... More
