The Salzburg old-town is really beautiful. You can visit all the spots by foot. The sights are all in walking distance. The buildings are very good renovated (cant say 'kept in good condition', because the look newly built). There is tons of shopping and dining opportunity. Salzburg is a very nice historic town with many interesting sites .The Old City is photographically rich, particularly beautiful ..if sun goes down behind the Alps and the lights come on. Rich architecture the narrow and clean streets.

Truly enjoy my visits to Salzburg Oldtown, it gives the impression as if after Mozart everything has been left untouched. Timeless.

Enjoy the rustic old town lined with beautiful cafes, shops, eateries and people. If you are coming by car, parking is an issue in the old town. I came during the Saizburg festival, so it was really festive.

My first time here was 42 years ago. I loved it then and loved it this time. Wonderful walking. Take funicular up to castle in good weather for beautiful view of town, river, and surrounding countryside. Forget 1 hour Panorama city tour. Awful. Waste of time and money. 8 people cramped into minivan. Old town small compact. One does not... More

It's a compact 1-2 km stretch in which you can see churches, chapels, cemeteries , shops, street food shops, souvenir shops. Indulge in people watching and eating and shopping.

Across the beautiful bridge, this area is open, nice and refreshing. Stroll around and perhaps have an icecream and it's all good. :)
