Even when you live here you find something beautiful and "new" every time you take your time to enjoy the city. You can find houses built in the 13th century or even earlier, still occupied. Or Salzburgs oldest brewery Stiegl, brewing the famous beer since 1492 (Stiegl is about 10 minutes from the "Altstadt". Not to talk about the countless... More

The Alstadt is an area , more of old town , with narrow cobbled lane flanked by restaurant /pricy shops. To be honest, I did not find anything special about this. Overrated. But watch out for Mozart Plaque and the main road view along Salzach which is amazing and beautiful

Its a very cool location for walking and seeing how the town hasn't changed since then. You could grasp good ideas of how the architecture and life was during Mozart's era. Walking in the alleys and streets, visiting the cathedrals and churches. and eating in a traditional restaurant is what you should be looking forward to do. However, a trip... More

Do take the time to walk around in the small alleys and taste the local cuisine - it's one of the most beautiful and cozy old towns out there

What a great place to be. Having a host of important monuments, this has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage in 1997. The whole area is wonderful to walk around, soak in the sights, see the monuments, eat and drink at cafes and generally people watching. One can spend many hours here and not get bored!

You can argue that all European cities Are similar but this one is so peaceful and unique and easy to Wander. Such a great mixture of old buildings, churches and shopping. The river is close by as is the palace. A great way to spend the day

The Old town of Salzburg is a World heritage site. We enjoyed the well preserved Baroque architecture, monuments and churches.

Nice place to walk, pretty nice and old. The tunnel is around the corner from this place. You can walk on the walking tunnel to the other side
