- MoonaMuslim729 contributionsEspecially interested kids and teenagers will love it!Generally: The "Haus der Natur" is a natural history and technical museum. It offers the visitor a variety of showrooms and exhibitions on the most diverse areas of animate and inanimate nature. There is, among other things, the "dinosaur hall", the "space hall", an aquarium with many show basins, many reptile tanks ... the science center, with topics on physics, such as energy, sound, acoustics, ... a lot of crystals and other stones, which are exhibited, and and and ... A lot can be explored and learned through play, as there are a lot of offers where you can do something yourself. It is interesting, varied and attractively designed. You can quickly spend a day in it without getting bored (especially kids and teenagers). My personal opinion: The topics are simply explained so that children and young people in particular can learn and experience a lot. Even for technically, physically not too verified people, this is definitely a great experience and gives a lot to marvel at. However, the "Haus der Natur" is more adapted to children, young people, school classes and people who are not interested in science. It's more playful and less deep and challenging. People with a good basic science education will learn less new things, but they will still find it nice. Conclusion: Very interesting and worthwhile, especially for families with children / tennegaers, and people with a little less scientific knowledge, but who are interested in science A great thing on a rainy day, but not only. € 8 entry is absolutely justified.Visited July 2020Written May 13, 2021
- Wim VAntwerp, Belgium3 contributionsGem at SalzburgWith the expectation of just visiting to see dinosaurs we have been amazed by the size of the museum. An aquarium, reptile exhibit, insects, human body, space, ice age, and so much more. But definitely also the science lab that allows kids and “young feeling adults “ to experiment and have a great time. Expected to stay for an hour or two, had been there for 5 hours until they had to close the doors for the day. A gem at Salzburg.Visited August 2021Traveled with familyWritten August 11, 2021
- David SLondon, United Kingdom165 contributionsIncongruous museum offering something differentWe wouldn't have considered visiting this museum had it not been a wet afternoon and included on the list of attractions covered by the Salzburg Card. I can't say it was really our cup of tea: a traditional and surprisingly large natural history museum combined with an interactive science museum. But if we'd had kids with us they would have been kept entertained and this is reflected in my rating.Visited May 2022Written June 2, 2022

The museum content is great and there is lots to see for adults and kids alike. It is the most unfriendly and most unwelcoming place I have ever visited as a family. For context I am actually from Salzburg myself but live in the UK with my family and wanted to show them the museum I enjoyed visiting as a child. My daughter was crying and I waited for her to calm down. Suddenly I was approached from behind by the cashier who told us in an extremely unfriendly tone to leave the museum as it's too loud. I was fairly speechless but managed to ask whether she is seriously asking us to leave the museum because my daughter is crying. She was already back on the way to the entrance and shouted "it's a museum". I asked to talk to the manager who apologized and let us back in the museum but could only do damage control at this stage. Given the target group is families in this museum the whole situation was astonishing. We will not come back again next time we are in Salzburg.

We (60+ years) really enjoyed a couple of hours here, exploring different activities and floods. There is lots of variety and though all the exhibits don’t have English text, many do, and the rest can generally be understood. Very good place for a different few hours.

We were in the museum over 6 hours and still didn't get to see it all!
It is one of the best museums I've ever been to world wide....just superb! so varied, so well laid out, everything so clearly explained.
The variety of exhibits and rang of topics covered was astounding!
OK not a fan of stuffed animals but have to say... stunned by the varieties on display... kept thinking for many... will they have been driven to extinction within my life time? sobering and very sad.
Loved all the areas we saw... especially the universe part and seeing how the world was formed.
Even being older than most there! we all enjoyed the interactive part too!
The aquariums were stunning... just spent ages watching the amazing coloured fish...
Learning all about human anatamy was great fun! will never think of my intestines the same again!
It really is a DO NOT MISS when in Salzburg... we can't rate it highly enough.

We went to this museum after reading so many recommendations. It includes lots of real and visual stuffed animals or dolls. When you feel you had enough from all these animals from the ice, wild & air you can go to the science section where there are so many activities for kids and adults as you could see in these photos.
Highly recommended ( except the restaurant).

This was a real surprise - an excellent and interactive museum. Wish we could have stayed longer but it was a very rushed 30 minute visit.

Haus der Natur is a very good museum. It was bigger than we expected. We had only two hours so could not visit the whole museum. With kids, you need at least 3-4 hours to visit this place peacefully.

We only had a couple of hours to spend here, and we all wished we could spend here a full day. Both the nature and the science parts are excellent, with lots of interactive science exhibits, deep explanations (also in English), and many fascinating things to see.

Unfortunately, almost half of the exhibits was in German and it was very hot inside. The most interesting was science part, but older side was dusty and not very interesting.

Viel Vergnügen wünsch ich euch.
