We stopped by for lunch because it was convenient. Service is cafeteria style with a large selection of (mostly) fish entrees and sides. It was quick and easy. The food was maybe a bit better than a U.S. fast food restaurant, and a bit more expensive. We ate outdoors and enjoyed the river scene. We would eat here again under similar circumstances.

I totally agree with the previous reviewer who suggested that this place should be classified as a restaurant instead of an attraction - indeed, there isn't anything to sightsee here.

I wasn't expecting to find a seafood place in Salzburg since Austrian food is usually meat-based. However, this was a good place to sit down, kick back, and enjoy a good seafood meal and the views across the Salzach River without paying over the top prices. Arriving only an hour before closing time, I chose the salmon steaks with roast potatoes - pretty tasty. And along with a drink, it probably cost me around 8.50 Euros. For that sort of price in an expensive city like Salzburg, that's not that easy to find.

This is a no frills place in Salzburg, a town where we haven't yet found a really wonderful place to eat. So, why eat here? (1) In a town where everything is overpriced, this place is cheap. (2) The food is very good. Not fancy, not gourmet, not cleverly presented (ok, there was some chopped parsley sprinkled on my potato side), no presumptuous waiters...just good seafood. (3) The ladies who work here were very nice. (4) It was a lunch that hit the spot after a long morning of touring.

Located on the Old Town side of the river near the pedestrian bridge. Eat there, I mean it.

This is the better (more filling) option than the fischburger version. The cakes were moist and tasty, the rice was amazing, and the portion was hardy. This place is a hidden gem in plain sight. This plate was only 4,80 which is great value.

We stumbled across this fish bar and ended up staying a few hours!! Fresh fish is cooked to order and in a café style environment. Washed down with local beer makes for a good lunch right on the water front. One half of the restaurant serves wet fish while the other half cooks great meals. Not very expensive and in a good location for shopping.

For an inexpensive snack or meal with absolutely fresh seafood right by the river in central Salzburg, this is the place. Outdoor seating on the sidewalk along the river or indoor seating with a river view. Place your order at the counter, they cook it for you and bring it to your table. Beer and wine available. Located at Hanusplatz a center for bus transport routes. Easy connections from/to the central train station. Nothing fancy but good.

Fisch Krieg is a great place for a quick & inexpensive lunch or dinner. Grilled, fried, cold salads and paella. All with potatoes and vegetables. Cash only, self-serve. Casual setting with a tree growing through it. We were able to eat gluten free there just by selecting carefully.

This scenic little fish market and restaurant filled the bill for us as we shopped and toured Salzburg. Located along the Salzbach River near the Lover's Lock Bridge, there was always a scenic view to be enjoyed. This is an active fish market selling very fresh and unique varieties of fish. The fish can be cooked to order if you wish. I ordered the fish-on-a-stick, which is a local delicacy consisting of mackerel cooked while skewered on a long thin stick. It was delicious and the cost was ery reasonable. Thjis is not a fancy restaurant, think of it like a local dinner for a fast meal on the go, or as a laid-back local's hangout for food coffee and conversation.

An average seafood meal that is tasty but uninspiring. Situated adjacent to the Salzach River, this restaurant is conveniently located for easy access on either side of the river. However, the seafood selections remain simple and basic. The price seems slightly on the high side for such simple food, however it is nothing to complain about.

I would dine here only if you're hungry and in a hurry. Otherwise, there are many more interesting restaurants to try if you feel inclined and have the time.

This small restaurant/fish market came highly recommended in Rick Steves' guidebook. It is located on the Salzach River, adjacent to the bikepath. Outdoor seating is available in good weather. There is a tree growing through the center of the building, roughly separating the cooking area from the seating and the fish market. You can order from the picture menu on the wall, and the friendly staff - English capable - allows substitutions [i.e. french fries vs. potato salad]. You pick the size of the very fresh filet, which is lightly breaded, not battered. I will be coming back for the paella. Our filets were melt-in-your-mouth; although the frozen french fries were put in the deep-fryer from a plastic bag, the oil used made them light and crisp. Draft beer and wines were available, reasonably priced and a big pour. During your meal, overlooking new Salzburg across the river, people ride and walk by on the bike path. Take a break from the regular meat offerings in most restaurants and enjoy this tasty seafood place. Our two dinners plus drinks were just under E 24.
