This church is really a different one than the Dom especially if you consider the architectural style of it. From inside it looks very huge, and somehow you can almost touch the special atmosphere of the church, I can't describe it really.

The Franziskanerkirche is a truly beautiful monument to faith. It is a fine illustration of the changes in architectural expression over the long period it took to construct these edifices with the manual methods and tools that existed during the medieval period. The later renaissance and baroque modernising do little to distract from the interior's soaring beauty. This is a... More

For some reason all tours and most tourists pass this elegant church up. It's a shame as it is very interesting and see to see. Don't miss the Pacher Madonna (1498) and the choir und Orchester. Run by the Franciscans

The franciscans are relative newcomers to this chirch, having been resident only about 350 years.....the structure is much older and a good example of medieval style

And so it is: it is a very calming place and I enjoyed a stop there. If you need a spiritual re-boot, this is the place to go.

This looks like 2 different churches in one. You enter into a very dark straightforward place, and then you have this amazing explosion of light and richness close to the altar. This was probably my favourite church in all of Salzburg

From nearly all around the city center, but especially from St. Peter Bezirk, the Franciscans’ church belfry tower appears majestically pointing towards the sky over the roofs of the surrounding buildings. The building roof is also rather peculiar and attractive. This church, located in Franziskanergasse, in the city historical center, is supposed to be one of the most a ncient... More

This is a place that you should visit if you have time. The overwhelming feeling lifts the spirit with the beautiful high vaulted ceiling and arches. It is not as overwhelmingly ornate as some other churches in the town are and a good place if you just want to take a few minutes out of a hectic day of sightseeing.

Visit this church when it gets dark and you will set yourself back in time, or try and catch one of the performances
