Must be fit to get all around as there is so much to see. The views from the ramparts give you breath-taking views over Salzburg and the mountains. Lovely restaurant and café serving delicious gluhwein.

It is one of the museums in Hohensalzburg. It depicts the military history of Austria we get to see artifacts such as weapons from different periods, Roman coins, archeological finds, castle furnishings. The highlight would be the Iron Soldier room with a vast collection of suits of armor. Worth visiting!

There are some pieces that are set up very well and take your imagination back in time to the medieval and the 1930s.

Burgmuseum is part of the Fortress. It is worth a visit as it contains a large collections of items used in wars, costumes, paintings, furnitures and many more. The rooms are impressive and beautiful. Allow an hour for the visit.

While you are visiting the imposing fortress, I recommend taking time to go through the museum. It gives a great insight into the workings of the fortress, as well as interesting exhibits relating to Salzburg and surrounding area.

its part of the admission to the fortress, so if you are up there you might as well go through. It was informative but not a large collection. highlight is certainly the room with the armor/weapons held up in the shape of men - my 10 year old loved itt
