This museum is well curated. It focuses on the local history which for this region also includes its role in housing allied prisoners of war, The curators are very helpful for families tracking their families who went through Stalag 18A

We had a very personal reason for coming to the Museum and it didn't disappoint. We came to see the exhibition on Stalag XVIIIA which although not large, was informative. Christine was very kind to us and we had a very interesting chat with her. We also looked at the other exhibitions on offer which were very well presented and interesting.
Well worth our time!!

This museum was the main reason for us to visit Wolfsberg, as it currently has a comprehensive exhibition about Stalag 18a, where my wife's father was a prisoner of war from 1941 to 1945. We had a one hour long meeting with one of the staff, to discuss the camp and conditions in detail, which was greatly appreciated. Fascinating recent history even if you do not have a personal link

This is a small but well-curated museum with a lot of history and information. I went primarily for the section about the camps in Wolfsberg as my grandfather was a prisoner of war there at Stalag 18a. When I mentioned this to the receptionist she asked if I wanted any more information about the camp and told me more about the exhibition which I found very thoughtful. This section is also translated into English (the other section are not) which is helpful since many of the POWs were from English-speaking countries.

My father was a POW in Stalag XV111A 1942-1945. I am visiting Salzburg in June 2017 and wondering if it's worth a side trip to Wolfsberg and the Lavanthaus museum. Does the museum still have an exhibition from those years and are there are sites in the town from those years?
