We enjoyed an afternoon ride with friends on Ossiachersee. The scenery is spectacular from every angle! If visiting other sites in the area, be sure and purchase the Kaernten card which is valid April through October. It's 69 Euro for seniors. This boat ride is free with the card.

As other reviewers noted, this is actually a transport service across the lake. You do have the option to buy some small food and drink items on board, but beware that you need to pay cash for everything. Although they take down your orders electronically, they don't take cards.

The best way to experience Lake Ossiach is to take the round trip on the boat line plying the lake between the different jetties. When the weather is clement you can sit on the open upper deck and take full value from the 2.5 hour trip, which brings you back to the jetty you started from. For us, we tacked this trip on to our ride of the "Gerlitzen Kanzelbahn". When we were down again from our ride up, we left our car on the Gerlitzen parking lot. It is less than a ten minutes walk to the jetty where the boat starts from. Entrance to the boat is free with the "Kärnten Card". On board catering is available. It is really a sailing café with changing views over the lake. The trip is to be recommended.

The round cruise on the Ossiacher See is the best way to see it. The ships are very comfy, the food is more then acceptable and libation is readily available. The various stops are interesting and of course the scenery is beyond compare. Eine Rundfahrt ist sehr empfehlenswert. Es ist gemütlich und sehr interessant, die Landschaft ist traumhaft schön. Eine wunderbare Idea einen schönen Nachmittag zu verbringen.

As others TA members wrote, this is not a cruise but a water taxi. We were not lucky as we took the smaller boat MS Villach on a cloudy day and when we were right in the middle it rained a lot, too, so we had to sit inside. We found it very boring, but it might be better on a sunny day… We parked our car at Gerlitzen-Kanzelbahn parking lot which is free. It is rather expensive, it’s better to buy Karnten Card (with which the ticket is free) and use it to visit for free other places in lovely Carinthia!
