Spent many sunny days and great nights strolling along the lake, renting electric boats, or dining at one of the many Great Lake side restaurants. One of the most beautiful regions in Europe!!

The Wörthersee is a very beautiful Austrian lake. There are a lot of possibilities for water sport, even for children. The lake is very clean and invites you to swim! There is also a ship company operating, which allows you to travel to all major...More

We've visited Worthersee twice for a few days on our tour to Croatia. Great place for a stopover for a few days. Very busy during Sportsfest week. If you don't like crowds don't go then! We stayed at Pension Pffefferdohle in Velden. Excellent place just...More

It is a beautiful lake nearby a beautiful city. This is the kind of place that you will spend the whole afternoon doing nothing with your significant other, just watching the scenery. It is not yet spoiled; there are no tacky souvenir shops or franchises....More

I swam in the Worthersee during IRONMAN Austria, and found the water to be wonderfully clear and fresh. The scenery around the lake is stunning.

Lake worthersee has really clean water and very cold too. The lake is huge and lots of people swimming around in the clean waters. Some guys were doing some water stunts too. This place is a calm and quite one with lot of photo-taking opportunities....More

3 Week Austria Itinerary (6 Replies)
Hi All, I am planning a 3 week trip around Austria beginning in June 2018 and would like to hear people's thoughts on my draft itinerary. I am hoping to experience a mix of what Austria has to offer (cities, lakes, alpine regions, cute towns etc), but have a particular interest in day hikes with beautiful views. Initial plans are to hire a car during the duration of the trip but also interested to hear if public transport would be feasible. My itinerary: 1. Arrive Vienna - stay 4...More

Re the Salzburg part of your trip----no need to stay in two separate areas. Base yourself somewhere around the Wolfgangsee ---St Gilgen for example--and visit Salzburg and the wider area from there.Saves changing hotes and better scenery!!

How is the landscape of Austria in early April? (1 Replies)
I have seen the pictures of Zell am See, Lake Worthersee, Hallstatt and others. These look like picture perfect postcards. However my worry is that going in early April, these places would not be in full bloom as shown in the pictures and would still have remnants of snow. I believe the photos are of these places in August - October which seems to be the more popular time to visit Austria. I am traveling mainly for the natural beauty of Austria. While snowy landscape have their own charm I...More

Early April is start of spring and can have very nice weather or still lots of snow in mountains like this year. It is very difficult to predict.

Worthersee to Zurich (2 Replies)
Hello My husband and I will be ending one part of our trip in May on Lake Worthersee. We will have Tuesday - Saturday left of the vacation and we are flying out of Zurich airport. Any ideas how we get to Zurich? Stops along the way? Towns to stay in? We will be relying on public transportation.
