I visited the lake in November 2016. Since it is off the season, almost everything is closed. The lake itself is "closed" with villas and private beaches. It is almost impossible to get to the shore. I will mak a visit to the lake in the summer period.

As Lake Worthersee is the most popular holiday destination for Austrians and add all the foreign holiday makers, then the endless string of hotels along the south bank road is easily explained. This area is during the summer very touristy. But then Lake Worthersee is very attractive. All kinds of water sports and water joy can be enjoyed, Ferries can... More

VBT bike tours has this as part of the Slovenia, Austria, Italy trip. We were able to choose from riding all the way around or going 1/2 way and taking the boat the rest of the way. It's a nice ride with interesting houses and hotels to look at.

My beloved spot in Carinthia. Huge lake with the cleanest water ever. You can find here a myriad of options to spend your time: either go to the casino, do water sports, have a fancy dinner by the lake or simply relax on of the beaches.

We stayed at Portschach on the lake, which has very clear and warm water. We went on the ferry twice and also walked along the side of the lake taking in the views of the lovely green countryside, and the attractions on the opposite side of the lake. Along the path were numerous seats for sitting and admiring the scenery. and... More

Very nice, clean and warm lake. We visited beach in Maiernigg (Strandbad Maiernigg) and spent nice afternoon there after trip to Pyramidenkogel view tower. The beach itself is a park style place with cut grass and pier and restaurant.

The largest of the many picturesque blue-green-water lakes in Carinthia. Do not miss out on visiting Pyramidenkogel, Velden Castle, Minimundus and renting a speedboat of course.

Beautiful Lake, just half an hour to Slovenia, on the way to Adriatic sea, it is just incredible place worth combining during summer vacation. There are several villages o the northern bank where you may stay, eat, drink and enjoy the walk along the lake. Portschach especially. Of course, bring swimsuits because the water temperature is appropriate even for children.
