In a town full of ancient history this is the newby as it was only installed in 1965.

It represents the legendary figure from the tale of the origins of the lake nearby. There are some nice mosaics in front of the Fountain on the ground and it has the coat of arms of the city‘s twin towns.

Not the prettiest but definitely worth visiting and a couple of photographs.

The Wotheresee Mandl celebrates the lengend about the creation of Lake Wothersee.

Briefly, he was a small man who twice admonished the drunkard inhabitants of a small city that was said to be where the Wothersee now is. He was laughed at and ignored, so he opened the tap on the keg he was carrying. An endless floe of water came out and flooded the city till only the lake remained.
The statue can be found a few minutes walk from Neuer Platz. Walk away from Neuer Platz along Krammer Gasse (lane). You should spot him about the first corner on your right.

One of Klagenfurt landmarks, you leave the Neuer Platz with Lindwurm and will meet the Woertherseemandl. See his finger, they are consumed by touching. Wanna touch it now? SANITIZE BEFORE TOUCHING AND AFTER TOUCHING YOUR HANDS, don't forget!

An old cast bronze statue which is said to symbolize the original flooding of the Wörthersee (Lake Woerther). The little man is quoted as having called down a flood to punish those who had lost their way and wandered from the true path of God.
The barrel beside him is the water outflow of the fountain. The man's head is polished by the action of the hands from the hundreds of people who touch it for good luck each day. After polishing his head once more the visitor can enjoy a coffee and cake at any one of the restaurants and coffee shops near by.

Interesting story behind this funny little statue and the fountain, it takes only couple of minutes for a selfie and you can move on.

It is said that this fellow is responsible for draining his keg onto the churches and townsfolk, thus creating Lake Wörthersee.
Many will toss coins into the pond after a rub of his golden finger for luck.

Its nice to hear the sage of how did Lake Wörth came about. The statue is based of the Sage and as if tells you the story. We enjoyed the art of it, and other tourists like to stop there and hear the story, and throw some coins into the small pool. I think its a small peek into the history of the place and its believes and standards.

The Wörthersee is one of the finest lakes of Austria; Klagenfurt is situated on the east bank of this lake. This statuette symbolizes the legend of the origin of the Wörthersee lake. A short but sure stop for the tourist visiting Klagenfurt.

The figure in itself is ok, but not much else to do. Probably a 5 to max 10 minutes checking and picture making.
