I visited and was very glad I did that. I spent there 2 hours and visited almost every house and building. The whole time I was walking there there was the smell of the forest and flowers, I really enjoyd that. I can recommend this museum to nature lovers, garden lovers and lovers of history.

We went on a sunny day (+20C) which is a must,on a rainy day it would be absolutely miserable. The historic farm buildings provide a fairly complete overview of life in various areas in Austria in days gone by.I agree with other reviewers that the explanations on the buildings could definitely be improved: a little more background information on the... If you are prepared to walk A LOT, this is an excellent museum! The restored buildings provide a wonderful opportunity to see how people long ago constructed all sorts of homes, farm building, churches, etc. The exhibits inside each building help you envision how labor-intensive life would have been. It was fascinating!! About half way through the museum (which is... More

The museum is just 2 stops from Graz Hauptbahnhof to Stuebing and 2 km walk or cycle along the Mur river. Tickets for the train can be bought online at oebb.at, trains go each hour, but be ready that ticket machine on Stuebing station can be out of service. The cost of admission to the museum is 9.5 EUR for... More

I was unlucky to get a rainy day on my visit to this museum and this fact spoilt the imperssion a little bit. It was a weekday too, so very few people, including the guides and animators (or how should we call the staff that goes workshops on different crafts?) In general: very nice, picturesque setting, well-kept grounds, pleasant walk,... More

This is an open-air museum, which can be an interesting option if one has one spare day in Graz. Getting there without the car is a bit complicated: we went there during the week (we were told that it is much more difficult to get there during the weekend) by taking bus 110 at 9am from Lendplatz, for return trip... The road to the museum is a bit complicated due to some reconstruction so rather read the map before you go. The museum is nice and large containing from aprox. 90 houses which are located in the valley between the mountains. I was wearing flip flops which proved to be sometimes difficult so rather take better shoes :). The observation... More

If you visit Austria and especially Styria and the city of Graz you probably find half a day to visit this open-air heritage village. Grab yourself somebody who takes you there (public transport is available but not so comfy) and translates and explains for most signs etc might be in German. Then you can enjoy walking through the gorgeous little... More
