Town squares in old European towns are almost worth walking through. You get some flavor of the place, even if it's from centuries past. This town square is large and open, and it is distinguished by what isn't here. There's no church. Lots of large houses with narrow frontage, however, and some shops. Plenty of bars nearby.

You don't even notice you are in a square. There is not enough place to sit and no interesting building to look around. The restaurants there are not good. Also there is barely space for bike parking

Very interesting with lots to see including a statue that dominates. Various cafes that sell the famous Linz cake. Also notorious for house where Hitler appeared to first celebrate the annexation of Austria

The most picturesque part of town - with lots of restaurant, shops, tourist office.... Kind of crossroads which you came by wherever you go....

You can't visit a european city and not see its centre! Quintessential european town square look. always appealing to my eyes. branches off into many lanes you can happily get lost in...I found myself in the middle of a huge wine festival on one of the days...no complaints! very very pretty city Linz!

Whether you want a tram, a restaurant, fresh vegetables or just an ice cream, it all happens at the Hauptplatz, Linz' central square.Trams constantly run through this otherwise pedestrian area, connecting the central square to the rest of the city. Along the sides are numerous restaurants offering seating both inside and out. After school and into the evening families come... More

Cute little platz with bars and stores. It has a tram which goes quite often. Nice place for walk and relaxing.

This is a beautiful square in a history city, and it presents a number of photo opportunities. During our recent trip to Linz, we made a couple of visits to this square.
