Interesting way to explore a mine

Loved the history and definitely the slides. There are hidden shows as well. And the final train ride out of the mines. Really worth it.

At first I read that the mines were shut in November but they extended the opening months but bear in mind the last guided tour of the mines is at 2:30pm. The tour lasts about an hour and includes a cable car up the mountain. The tour had a great mix of history, geography, seeing things, tasting things and fun... More

After a beautiful drive from Salzburg to Hallstatt, we were ready to tour the salt mine. We were initially put off by the unfriendliness of the guy operating the funicular but he was the only unpleasant person we encountered. It was quite a hot day, and it's a steep walk to where the tour begins after you get off the... More

I would say, never ever miss this tour while in Austria. It's worth every penny you pay for and is a lifetime experience especially for people coming from the east. You have to experience it rather than reading this to understand why I give a 5 rating for this place. Yes you get to see the old salt mine in detail, walk... More

This was a really well done tour. The tour takes account all members of the family when going round with exciting slides and rides for children (and grown ups).

We did not know anything about the tour except that it was recommended on Tripadvisor. We paid for our tickets, got on the funicular, went way up the mountain and followed the directions for the start of the tour. All of a sudden we were told to put on miner overalls which got many laughs and pictures! With our guide... More

This tour offered enough things (funicular up hill, beautify setting, viewing platform, and salt mine tour) for satisfy everyone. You dress up in funny colored cloths, and off you go. The information provided was good, detailed enough, and informative. The little trolley ride at the end was fun. The overall views from the top of the mountain, and viewing platform... More

We attended mines in Banská Štiavnica just about month ago and I must addmit, that ruined Saltz welten for us. While mine in Slovakia was real, natural and u left it with strong feeling u would never wanna work in mine, this was clean, empty hole in mountain with few old documentary videos. Slides were funny, althougt short. Probably best... More
