After visiting the abbey, took a short walk to the town (main pedestrian shopping area). Wife and i found the area very charming with restaurants and shops. Area is not large and can easily be walked within an hour. We stopped by a store that hand makes coffee and tea pots and cups. Makes for a nice souvenir from the... More

We walked around the town early one morning and it was very quiet and very few tourist. Got busier later on. The town is lovely with pplentiful bars, cafes, restaurants, hotels, apartments etc. The retail shops had wonderful ways of displaying their goods but the clothing looked on the expensive side. Some bargains on sale. Lovely just to relax before... More

After visiting the Melk Abbey, we opted to walk through Melk on our way back to the ship instead of taking the bus back. It was a very nice village w/ shops and cafes(though I thought the clothing shops were extremely expensive for such a small village) - given that it was still early in the day, it was not... More

I bought two bottles of wine here at their recommendation. One of the bottles had a cork that totally crumbled. The wine was "off'. I assume that the wine was stored vertically. The other wine was good. I got no response from them after 2 emails. Very unsatisfactory.

This review is rather long but necessarily so. We purchased Combitickets from the OBB counter at Wien Westbahnhof. This ticket was good for the train ride from Vienna to Melk, entrance into the Melk Abby, a boat ride from Melk to Krems, and an open ended train ride back to Vienna from Krems. All of this for 51 euros, what... More

The Wachau Valley is an excellent trip for all tourists to Vienna. Just an hour outside of the city the region is filled with beautiful views, and vineyards galore. Stop at one, or two of them and sample the native wine.

We've seen a lot of wine tegions, and this one is the best! Just do it, go everywhere and take your time. Even better if you can speak a bit of German!

My wife and I were in Melk as the first stop on our "Sommertraume Wachau" overnight trip, which includes taking the train from Vienna, touring the Abbey in Melk, then boarding a cruise ship for the ride past all the Wachau towns to Krems, and then a train ride from Krems back to Vienna. When we arrived in Melk on... More

We visited September 17 with a group from our Viking River cruise. We decided to walk the town after our tour of the abbey. I found my Birkenstock footwear in 15 minutes at our 1st stop at Leopoldinger store. Good priced clothing and footwear. My tag along made me shop every store returning 2 hours later. I had a nice...
