The Casino is a property of the Societe des bains de mer de Monaco where the Prince of Monaco have a major interest. The Gambling Palace was built in 1858 by an idea of Princess Caroline (1793-1879) to helps the Family Grimaldi and to avoid the bankrupt. Beautiful the facade and his fountain with the concave mirror.

In 1854 gambling was legalized by Prince Florestan I of Monaco. The casino opened in 1856 in a village near the port. Prince Charles III ordered the construction of a new district called Monte Carlo, and a new casino entered this project. Construction of the current building began in 1858. Unfortunately we didn’t get very far into the casino. We managed to make it into the building once our temperature was checked (and with my husband wearing shorts) but when we went to pay our €17 euros to get in, I was refused entry as I had no ID. My husband offered a photographic picture of my passport but that was no good. I don’t drive so had no other form of ID. I took my mask off to show him I was definitely over 21 years and even asked if my husband bought the drinks if this would suffice. The man was nice enough (unlike his colleague) but said unfortunately he couldn’t let us in. His colleague a couple of 100 metres standing away from us started yelling across the hallway for me to put my mask back on ... I understand why but he did it in a pretty aggressive manner. I put my mask back on and we took our custom elsewhere to the Buddha Bar. From reading the other reviews and the lack of atmosphere/professional staff sounds like we dodged a bullet!
