I don’t enjoy gambling at all, but I had to visit to see this famous place and perhaps to sit and have a drink.
When we arrived at the entrance and the uniformed officials waiting there, I opened my handbag for the obligatory security check, but the man only took a cursory glance – he was more interested in taking my temperature with a thermometer aimed at my forehead!
We purchased ticket to enter – 17 euro each, of which 10 euro can be redeemed in one of the bars, one of the restaurants, or for slot machine pieces.
You can take photographs in the main lobby (which is gorgeous – true Belle Époque decorative style (late 19th century). Once inside the gaming rooms, I was able to take a few quick photos of the architectural and decorative features (NOT the gaming tables) before I was asked not to. I just loved the décor!
As we were visiting during the afternoon, it was fairly quiet inside - only one roulette table and two poker tables were occupied.
Between players at the wheel, a uniformed man disinfected the table and seat that had been vacated, and there was plenty of hand sanitiser available. There were Perspex shields between each player at the wheel.
My husband asked an official where the bathroom was. He reported back to me and I followed his directions, only to discover that there are only bathrooms for the gentlemen on the gambling floor – ladies have to go back out to the foyer!
We lost our money very quickly on the roulette wheel, then enjoyed our very expensive drinks in the lounge of the Salle Europe.
It’s worth going in a having a look, even though you have to pay quite a bit for the thrill! (But you don’t have to gamble). Do it at least once in your life.

Went here to do some gambling. However to enter we still had to pay the 19 euro entry ticket, in addition to the 100s euro lost gambling that night.
The casino is beautiful and reminds me very much of le tren blue restaurant on Lyon station in Paris, and there is even a le tren blue restaurant inside.
No photos allowed inside.

In the center of Monaco this impressive building featured in many movies and documentaries is a must visit place even for the people who don’t gambling. There is a 17 euros entrance fee and you get a 10 euro coupon to use inside for drinks or gambling. Has 2 restaurants and a bar. If you want to visit go during the day, if you want to play go late in the afternoon when the big rollers show up. Outside are always parked the latest models of exotic cars. In the same building is the opera house.

This was a very disappointing experience. It cost 17 euros to get in (with 10 of that used as credit inside) which is absolutely fine. However, once inside there were WAY WAY too many customers for the number of tables. Four black jack tables and two roulette tables plus automated machines that no one uses is not nearly enough for the sheer number of people the let into the building. We waited for over an hour and not a single space opened up at any of the tables. You have to order a drink at either a lounge table (all busy) or one of the gambling tables, which of course you cannot do as they are all full. Then surprise surprise, once we decided to cut our losses, the credit chips cannot be exchanged back so we just had to leave 17 euros down each without placing a single bet. This is definitely not worth all of the hype. Worst casino I have ever been in.

Unfortunately we didn’t get very far into the casino. We managed to make it into the building once our temperature was checked (and with my husband wearing shorts) but when we went to pay our €17 euros to get in, I was refused entry as I had no ID. My husband offered a photographic picture of my passport but that was no good. I don’t drive so had no other form of ID. I took my mask off to show him I was definitely over 21 years and even asked if my husband bought the drinks if this would suffice. The man was nice enough (unlike his colleague) but said unfortunately he couldn’t let us in. His colleague a couple of 100 metres standing away from us started yelling across the hallway for me to put my mask back on ... I understand why but he did it in a pretty aggressive manner. I put my mask back on and we took our custom elsewhere to the Buddha Bar. From reading the other reviews and the lack of atmosphere/professional staff sounds like we dodged a bullet!

We visited the Monte Carlo Casino today, and my opinion afterwards is that it should not be visited for other qualities than its beauty and architectural value. The staff are short with the customers and speak only French. You have to pay to enter the tables, which is also the only area where drinks are served (I would have had to pay to enter the area to wait and have a drink whilst my boyfriend plays a couple rounds, ludicrous) and for free you can only pay the slot machines. I decided to try my luck and took out 20 euros, and noticed that in most machines minimum bet is 2,5 - which for me seemed unreasonably high. The machines are extremely misleading: I put in 10 euros to one of them and wanted to change the bet to a lower one, but the only option was a bigger bet with no possibility of changing back to the lower one. After trying to change the bet the machine simply changed to max bet, betting my full 10 euros, and I lost the whole lot in two seconds. Needless to say the staff were unhelpful when I informed them about their machines being misleading and ridiculous. Total scam if you cannot enter the private rooms; for a casual Sunday tourist definitely not worth it.

Dear guest,
We are sorry to read that your visit did not meet your expectations.
Did you take advantage of our Casino Royal offer?
With your entry ticket, you are free to choose from various offers: either 10€ to play at the slot machines or table games, 10€ discount on you bill at the Bar of the Salle Europe, or a refund of your entrance ticket when you spend €30 or more at Salon Rose.
We are sorry that you did not find a slot machine for you. Please do not hesitate to ask our staff and they will be happy to help you find the good one for you.
Best regards,

The place is overhype, in the morning no dress code and free entrance you can go inside as long as you have a passport and vaccination card, if not they don’t allow you to go in, well it’s not lot to see in the morning only the slot machines are available. The big gambling happen at night after 8pm there’s dress code, then you need to pay to enter the facility. The place itself is not that big, I think the bigger room is for VIP. In my opinion Las Vegas is more better than this casino. The staff in this place treat you by the way you look. If you look rich you get treated well if not don’t expect any kindness.

This is THE casino in Monte Carlo. There is a great lobby you can see for free after waiting in line to get in. The women get in right away, but the men do have to wait in line a bit longer. They have some neat displays for pictures and even a gift shop. If you want to enter the casino though, you must pay (€17 if I remember right). You do get a €10 voucher back once you get inside, so really only €7 after it's said and done. The clientele is upscale as are the dealers, but it is a fun place to gamble. We did lose a little once inside, but it was still a fun experience.

Really enjoyed the atmosphere and the people watching. The building is stunning and we really enjoyed a couple of cocktails as we aren't big gamblers. Was a bit of a mix with some really glamourous people who had made an effort to some more casual people. Couldn't go to Monaco and not go in.
If you like cars then you can stand outside and see hyper and super cars go past all night.

Overall the casino is average, if you're into cars you might like cars parked out front. Inside is a nice interior, as expected but you are limited to a tiny section of a free casino where you can use the slot machines. If you want the full gambling experience, you will have to pay for entrance.

Just wondering if any one has been into both the casino in the cafe de Paris and the monte carlo casino and which one is the best to visit ?

We visited the Monte Carlo casino. I can't compare to the casino in the cafe de Paris since I know nothing about it.
We were disappointed by our visit to the Monte Carlo casino. Some nice architecture and design, but otherwise not of special interest to us. Monaco was absolutely beautiful. I think you'll find a more detailed review I posted to TripAdvisor after our trip in Sept.

Is there a minimum bet for the tables?

Hi,
I played roulette and it was the standard minimums. I did not notice any excessive minimums at the other tables. I played with 100 Euros for a bit of time and had fun.
It was not any more expensive then Las Vegas.
It was more of an experience!
I also enjoyed the moderately priced restaurant Le Salon Rose - no reservations (I would make one, if during high season)- very good service - 3.5 to 4 flavors - beautiful interior and very nice view of the mediterranean.
Have fun

Fremont Street is much better than Monte Carlo? lol

The interior of the Casino de Monte Carlo is much classier than that of the casinos off Fremont Street (there is a YouTube video which gives you a sense of the place's glamour, although it was jarring to see, in real life, how many slot machines actually line the walls. The video also does not give you the sense of how crowded it can be during the day, with masses of tourists wandering the streets and pathways.

Généralement c’est 5 euro mais parfois il y a des tables avec minimum plus élevé.
Pour la table à 5 euro minimum le maximum en numéro plein est 500 euros
Anyone know if a chip can be bought during the open slot machine time? My husband wants to get one from the casino for himself and his dad. TIA
